Ogelthorpe. What is an "Ogertorp"? Ruutu is a hard guy to spin around and get to drop the gloves. Not as hard as Ulf Samuelson or Kasparitis. He'll drop them , but not against any of the heavyweights I put in my last comment. At least he does'nt wear a pussy shield. I really don't think Peters was injuried, because a hockey glove is very protective, but it is the spirit of the act of biting.
 
Reports said that the skin was broken.  So, I'd say that if that is true, no matter how protective the glove is, broken skin would hurt.

As far as goons go though, I was reading an article in SI on Avery and I knew there had to be more to this guy than just bad mouthing ex gfs. Michael Farber (the writer) pointed out, like I did before, that hockey is VERY tolerant and still employs the likes of Bertuzzi, Simon and other "agitators" even after serious transgressions (like Bertuzzi's). So why such hoopla over "sloppy seconds?" Well, because Avery is also an asshole. One thing hockey holds higher than any of the other major sports is "the team" While in baseball's locker room people face their equipment, in football they are segregated by position, in hockey the room is designed so everyone is facing the center and can see each other. Avery was rarely in the locker room to begin with and when he did make an appearance was usually on his phone talking up book deals and fashion tips (apparently he interned at Vogue last year).

So it wasn't his comments that got him in trouble, it was his being just a shitty teammate and a shitty person.
 
Dude, I love that fucking movie!! The Ogertorp was what Denis Lemiuex, the goalie asked. Also to Joe McGrath ( the cheap bastard GM), "who ownda team?"
Ruutu bit through a fucking glove? Holy shit. Does he have bionic teeth? He needs a long vacation then, like 10-20 games.
 
He apparently caught one of the joints, but I don't care, I hate him.  I used to tolerate Avery because he was worth points, but Ruutu's just garbage.

I would love to see Jags return to the NHL...even if it was on the Pens. Shanny has a deal in the works with New Jersey for a prorated 800k contract and would net about 400k.

You are talking about Jagr there, right?  Not Shanny?  I'm a huge fan of Shannahan (yeah, spelling?)-- I remember when I first found NHL, I was 20ish, just moved to St Louis, and the Blues took their last place playoff team against the (hated) 'Hawks, and swept them!!  Next series, the Blues made it a 7-gamer against the Leafs (when they were good and they had Felix the Cat).  Ah, the good ol' days, when the Blues actually had a team that was worthy....
 
Yeah, you're talking about the Shannahan, Hull, Joseph blues, I forget who their big D was, but they had a very good club in the early-mid 90s.

by "back home" I meant players that want to play their last season on the club that drafted them.
 
Adam Oates centering Hull. Man that guy made Brett Hull look so damn good!! But who would Jagr pl;ay wing with on the Pens? I don't think Crosby might be as good of a center for Jagr as we'd like to think. And Bravo to Wasted for giving the shoutout to Felix"the Cat" Potvin!!
 
I liked Oates better as a Bruin :p, And with Jagr in the pens (HUGE if) Either Crosby or Malkin can center him, in fact with Jagr in the line-up Malkin can go back to being a full-time center. Man, so cool to think about, shame it's mere speculation :(
 
Oates and Neely. That was another good combo. I think Malkin makes a better winger than a center. Last year he had Ryan Malone center him, then Hossa after the trade. He has a great set of hands and a natural goal scorers touch.

MOSCOW (AP)—The Continental Hockey League suspended five officials on Friday in connection with the death last year of rising star Alexei Cherepanov.

The 19-year-old Cherepanov, a first-round draft pick of the New York Rangers in 2007, died in October after collapsing on the Avangard Omsk bench during a game at Vityaz Chekhov. An autopsy showed he suffered from a chronic condition that obstructed blood flow to the heart and other organs.

Avangard’s president, general manager and one of its team doctors were suspended indefinitely from positions in the league. Another Avangard doctor was suspended for two years. Vityaz’s president also was suspended indefinitely.

There had been complaints that Vityaz improperly organized medical services at the arena.

Thanks!!  And good call on Hull, that guy was great to watch, and he always seemed to be smiling. 
 
They also found evidence of blood doping on the part Cherepanov that was a factor in his death. The media was also flaming the Rangers for going to the league to get a compensatory pick to replace Cherepanov.

The problem with Malkin this year is he has no one to give him the puck. Maybe we can talk Adam Oates into making a comeback. :D
