Official Hockey discussion thread

That made me laugh, but after thinking about it, he may just fit well with the broadstreet bully style of play.

habs and Bs all tied up, I smell a game 7. Pens with the chance to close it out tonight, all eyes on Fleury.

The IIHF World Championships is underway. I guess you North Americans don't care much for it, especially since we already had the Olympics this year.

I'm watching Canada vs Slovakia right now. The Canadian team here looks much slower than their best team. Of course they are still a good team, but it's not close to the standard of the Olympic team.

Not only did we already have the olympics, we have the Stanley Cup underway. So the U.S, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Czech and Slovakia rosters are not up to par if they have a player currently in the playoffs.

Sweden is missing Lundqvist. Russia is Missing Malkin and Brysgolav, Slovakia Chara and Gaborik and so on. I still wish it got a bit more coverage State side.

I would watch more of it, but the timing is really poor with the playoffs. Hawks really ground out a win last night .. which is how they need to play against the Wild, who are playing some really tight D since game 2

Glad to see the Hawks won. Montreal better be on their game tonight, but to be honest, I'm starting to wonder if the Rangers aren't the team to beat from the East.

France are really up and down in this tournament. Winning 3-2 over Canada on penalties, then losing to Italy before winning 5-3 against Slovakia!

Regin had a really good game for the Hawks, he needs to keep playing at least until Shaw comes back .. if not beyond. Incredible for a guy who has not played for the last month

The Penguins go down. Crosby finishes with 9 points in 13 games - far too few for him. The Rangers move on to face the winner of Habs/Bruins.

Minnesota is a real good team, lots of good young players and they handle the puck (though not the last few minutes) really well. They should be good for a while.

I think so, especially if they sign Vanek in the off season, as many wonks are projecting.

Another huge save by Crawford, who is really proving he is more than just a solid defense. He has become a heck of a goalie.

Now that the Rangers have won, we are guaranteed at least 1 team in the Conference Finals that haven't won a cup in the post-lockout era. Considering last year we had the last 4 Champions in the Conference Finals, I think that says something about the talent spread in the league. If the Wild win their series and the Habs win theirs, only the Ducks/Kings winner will be a recent champion.

That was a great goal, the thing is, it was not even his best goal of the series. He does some insane things with the puck.
