That was a great series, I'm disapointed in the outcome ... but happy to see the Hawks were able to dig themselves out of the hole to make it really interesting.  They played a lot of young players this year, I think their future is still bright.

The Hawks will come back with this lineup. They're still deep and have a good system at work. Vancouver's got their time to shine, and hopefully this almost-loss gives them a sense of character.

How about Alex Burrows, though. Kid deserves a medal.

The Vancouver/Chicago series was one of the best I've ever seen.
The 1994 Eastern conference finals was the best one I ever saw. Devils vs Rangers, the appearance of the Neutral zone trap, Brodeur's emergence, Matteau! Mattau!, a 54 year curse and cup drought, and of course Mess's game 6 gaurantee.

This one was a good one. Toews' goal to tie it was unbelievable, Crawford was brilliant, but the Canucks were too fast and too physical for the 'Hawks. And it was the Alex Burrows' show with both Vancouver goals, a penalty shot and taking a penalty in OT. It was a nail biter.

When it comes to storylines, it's hard to beat the Vancouver-Hawks series. This is an emerging rivalry. Vancouver the team of destiny, looking for revenge over their rivals, looking for a Cup of their own, and they go up 3-0 only to let the Hawks back in it. Questions in net, head shots, sup discipline calls, GM calls out the reffing...oh yeah. Hell of a series.

PS, Habs stay alive with a great performance from Carey Price and some foolish missteps by the Bruins. If the Bruins hadn't given Montreal two huge 5-on-3s the game might still be going on. Boston tonight is gonna be rough.

Boston vs Montreal. Game 7. I don't need to say anything else.

But I do wonder why they had 3 days off, then have to travel (even though it is'nt that long of a distance) and play back to back games? Anyway am I mean for making my wife and daughter watch Ameican Idol in the Bedroom so I can watch this game on the good TV, in all it's glory?

Plus she and my son are Bruin fans.

Celtics are in the playoffs. That's why their schedule is a bit fucked. Luckily, the Celtics won't have to worry about the Bruins getting in their way after tonight. :D

At least the Bruins don't have to play all their playoff games on the road because the circus is in town.

The core of the Hawks is very young. They will keep getting better, especially that they have Cup winning players on their team. Crawford has been good and played his ass off in a game 7 as a rookie.

Crawford exceeded my expectations.  Hopefully they will not feel the need to overpay for a backup goalie again next year.  They did a nice job of getting some young talent from all the trades they had to make and have some up and coming players.  Leddy comes to mind, he made a lot of mistakes, but as the year went on minimized them.  He seems like a talent with huge upside.

The Vancouver game was awesome. Toew's did a great job in making it interesting by making it go to OT... what a nail bitter! Pens/Lightning game 7 and B's v. Habs game 7... The era of the Salary cap has delivered in the parity department, that's for sure.

If I were Hawks fans (or Leafs fans that matter) I wouldn't get too excited about your young rookie goalie for next season.  Keep your expectations low; Crawford will more than earn his paycheck if he plays solid hockey for the Hawks next year.  Players, especially rookies, have regressive years all the time.  They aren't on some time line from good to excellent.

Yes, sometimes young goalies get hot for one post season then fade like John Casey(Minnesota North Stars), Jim Carey(Washington Caps),  Felix Potvin(Toronto Maple Leafs) and Bill Ranford(Edmonton Oillers). But I got to give Crawford all the credit in the world, because he showed tremendous poise in a game 7 at such a young age. That shows how much potential he has.

Habs and Pens are out. East just got a whole lot less interesting from me. Boston will come out, I think.

I lied about the east being less interesting. Bruins vs. Flyers? Now that is interesting. Rematch? I hope the Bruins steamroller the Flyers. Definitely the Caps will destroy the Lightning. Out west? Preds give the Nucks some problems but Canucks in 6, and Detroit will beat SJ in 6.

Was it just me or did last night's Bruins/ Habs game look like an old NH game? Lot's of holding and slashing going on in the corners. I saw PK Subban get wrestled down at least 3 times and Bergeron laid a good whack on someone. He got called on the high stick. Anyway it was a good series, a shame the Habs came up a little short.

I think Bruins over the Flyers in 6. Philly's goaltending issues will be a deciding factor.

Washington over Tampa Bay in 6. Roloson is good, but not good enough to stop Ovie, Semin and company.

Canucks over the Preds in 5. Vancouver is too fast, skilled and physical for the Preds.

Detroit over San Jose in 7, becuase that is how it is.

As much as everyone's talking about Philly's goaltending problems, Boucher, outside of two awful goals, played very well in that series, almost entirely sans Pronger.

I think people are exaggerating how bad their goaltending situation is.  It was chaotic, yes, but Boucher's shown he can get it done.

I tend to agree that Boucher is the guy there. I think that the Bruins have a better goalie, better defence, and a good enough offence to win the day, though.

I'd agree.  I can't see Philly's offence being as effective against Boston.

You really think the Caps will beat Tampa? Tampa has better defense, had more production from secondary scorers and has WAY better goaltending. The only thing that Washington has that Tampa doesn't is Ovie, yet they have Lecavalier who is having a resurgent post season, the midget St. Louis who is on FIRE and Stamkos finally got clicking. This will be a closer series than most expect.

Bruins v. Philly? I agree! Broadstreet Bullies v. the Big Bad Bruins?! Count me in! Out west... all I'm saying is if the Conference final isn't SJ vs. Van it was a disappointment and whoever of those two loses the Conference final it was a disappointing season. These two clubs have needed to win the cup for the past 5 seasons and have fallen short. They need it at this point if anything to just save face.

Washington as a team has improved on their defense. I don't think Tampa would have gotten past Pittsburgh if Crosby and Malkin were healthy. Washington is pretty deep too and have gotten production out of their 3rd and fourth line players. Neuvirth was'nt tested in the series with the Rangers and that is going to be the X factor in that series. But I don't think the Lightning are going to beat the Caps.

Philly and Boston is going to be a good one, but the Flyers are going to miss having Simon Gagne. Boucher is the best goalie the Flyers have and they need to have confidence in him and quit playing goalie roulette.

I think the window is closing on San Jose. They don't have enough heart to get past Detroit.

I think Vancouver is going to win the conference.

I guess most on here don't care until the quarterfinals of the IIHF World Championships, but Norway has just drawn 4-4 with Sweden, despite our 1st choice goalkeeper being out with a groin strain ... It was the Swedish goalkeeper who looked like a second-hand one, conceding four in less than 20 finishes.

The match is in extra time now ...
