That's it. Houston's going to the Super Bowl. They have to, it's in Texas right? They'll be my second favorite team next weekend.

KC is 2-0!!!  Woohoo!!  First time since 2005 this has happened!!

After this past weekend, the win over the Chargers in Week 1 is looking even better.  Still, if KC ends up 8-8, I'll be pleasantly surprised.  Cassell still looks VEEERRRRYYY shaky.

Sports with 16 game seasons are a little silly. Lose 2 games and that's usually it.

Not at all. Very few playoff teams actually go 14-2 or better. Lose 6 games, and you're in trouble ... but 11-5 will usually get you playoffs.

There is a historical correlation of 0-2 teams not making the playoffs very often. But that's not because of the 2 losses by themselves, usually. It's because 0-2 teams have deeper problems, which are rarely corrected in time.

I recall hearing that three teams have won the Super Bowl after having started 0-2.  The NY Giants [over the Patriots] a few years ago were the last.

Cowboys the year Smith held out, they lost the first two games without him in the line up and BANG, he was back and another SB victory.

Well, the Saint's look somewhat vulnerable and I find myself feeling sorry for SF; especially on Jerry Rice's big night.

Apparently Michael Vick will be starting for the Eagles now.

Just like Favre's horrible start and then saying that's why he didn't want to play. Well no shit sherlock, no one plays to lose, but you're a pro and should act as one... fucking baby.

Haha!!  I had respect for Favre, but his on/off play show is getting old.  He did play really well last year, but this year, his lack of pre-season play is really showing.

And, yes, with Harvin and Rice not playing/playing hurt, it doesn't help him.

That'll be a good game.  The only thing that will make a difference is if Rice, Harvin, and Favre start to click... then he won't hold the ball much... that is really what is stopping this whole freight train- he has to hold the ball.  This is a team that is going to be better at using the pass to set up the run.  Right now, only offense they have is AP, so teams can pound him.  Get a few open field catches and scores, then AP can start to roll.  But they just don't seem to have last year's pass and catch working.

I love Stanford football. I hate Notre Dame.  So, Stanford's walloping of the Domers today was pretty damn fun to watch.  Stanford has what should be everyone's favorite college football player (except maybe Denard Robinson -- I hope his injury today isn't too serious).  His name is Owen Marecic. Sports Illustrated has an article on him in this week's issue called "The Perfect Player."  He is the only Division 1 player to play both offense (fullback) and defense (middle linebacker), full-time.  Today he pulled off a feat that probably doesn't happen very often, if ever.  He scored two touchdowns in 13 game seconds.  He had a rushing touchdown on offense, and on the first play of the ensuing Notre Dame possession, he intercepted a pass and ran it in for a touchdown.  Oh, and he has a 3.88 GPA.  At Stanford. Majoring in human biology. Good role model for the kiddies.
Wow, that blue field at Boise State is hard to watch on TV.  Plus, it matches the blue uniforms, so it's very hard to see the players.
I heard an interesting story about that field, don't know if it is true: when they installed the field, before the lines had been painted, apparently a bunch of ducks and geese were killed because they landed too hard, thinking it was a pond.

cfh, I saw that score, and thought about you- glad for your school!  And, I did hear about that scoring twice in 13 seconds, an amazing feat; what an amazing player he is!!  Also, you are right, that field is really difficult to look at.  Fun to see at first, but after a while, I just want to see green, phew.

Now, I figure you'll be on this thread, so I hope you are feeling better!  Good luck, rest, enjoy football.

Speaking of which, I hope you are watching this KC/SF game!  Some pretty great plays in Arrowhead today!  I've watched every game that I could see over the last 5 sad years, so whether or not they will end up with a winning season, I'm really enjoying these first few games!

KC, 3-0 for the first time in a long time... At least since one of Dick's early seasons...I don't even know how long it's been.
