Official NFL football thread(2010-2011 season)

With the pre-season starting, I thought we should get some action going here.

I'm a Vikings fan and I'm very glad to find out that Favre is going to play in the next exhibition game.

Just had my fantasy draft with long-time friends in Vegas.  It's a 12-team auction-draft league.  I pretty much blew my budget on three cornerstone players:  Aaron Rodgers, Frank Gore and Roddy White, with a pu-pu platter of remaining position players, plus the Vikings D.  Hopefully they will give me some joy as my beloved Chiefs struggle to yet another sub-.500 season.

Amen.  It's sad when I'm hoping for a 6-10 season.  And that's because its the best we've seen in, what, 4 years?!

I think my draft is coming up, we usually wait til most of the pre-season is over, in case of injuries.

That's unquestionably the better way to do it, and one guy in our league spent 10% of his budget on Sidney Rice two days before learning he had hip surgery.  Unfortunately, that was the latest weekend we could all get to Vegas before the season starts this year.

6-10 is possible for the Chiefs, maybe even a little better.  If Cassel can play worth a damn, we could conceivably even contend for the division, the rest of the West is weak (people are actually picking the Raiders to have a shot, but I don't believe in Jason Campbell).  But realistically, I'd be very happy with 8-8, but I am not holding my breath.

Well, if the O-line can let Cassel look down the field, he may have a shot out there.  I think our running game should be pretty solid, they are trying on defense, but after watching the Browns run all over us last year, I just don't know.  I'd love 8-8, I'm so very tired of this basement in the AFC West.

I never thought, but it must be interesting living in LA, being a Chiefs fan.  And I'm with you, I don't think the Raiders have a chance of much better than 3rd in the West.  They haven't had a good QB since Gannon was there, and I don't see the madness abating there.

Looks like my draft is Monday night.  I got to pick one 'keeper' from last year, and it was Brees.  I picked him 2 years ago, and have kept him ever since.

Today is opening day for College Football!!  (ok, there was probably a game Thursday)  Anyway, I'm pretty excited, because this is only the second season in the last 15 years that I've had Saturdays off to watch it!!  The people at the place I work (probably close to 100 at least) are crazy Hawkeye's fans.

I'm guessing cornfedhick is a Jayhawks fan (that's where my son wants to go to school)-- So, good luck to them!

...the games, so far, are pretty boring.

Your son has good taste!  My parents both went to KU [that's Kansas University for any Euros who dare to read this manly thread], and our family has had awesome season tickets to football and (more importantly, at least on that campus) basketball games since I was a small boy.  So I am indeed a big Jayhawks fan.  However, my favorite college football team is Stanford, my alma mater.  They're winning big today, albeit against a cupcake.  In their honor, I will change my avatar to the Stanford logo.

Hawkeyes had a good day, so congrats to them. If still looking for a game, the TCU-Oregon St game is worth turning the channel to watch...
Ugh, Kansas lost to North Dakota State, 6-3. Could be a long year.  Plus, the QB is named Pick.  Not a good sign.

I missed that game, sorry for the loss.

I think that, starting next week, the College Football games will start getting better.  Hawk's were the talk of the town last night!

True, but The Vikings have lost 2 of their major players who Favre successfully threw to all the time. Wide Receiver Sidney Rice is one of them. Oh well. I'm still looking forward to a "rematch" against The 'aints.

Ha!  Don't 'The 'aints' them too much, they did kick Favre's ass all over the field, then go on to win a Super Bowl!

I'll 'aint them all I want! :P Those bastards intentionally tried to injure Favre in that game and I'm sure they'll be trying to do the same again.

I dunno, man.  I hate to dog your team, but Berrian is your top WR at the moment.  He will do really well, and with AP, their ground game will be just fine.  The defense is always rock solid, so that won't be a problem (specially with that 'gift' the Chiefs gave you a few years back ;))

However, that being said, the Saints offense looks like its full bore, ready to go.  Their D has seemed to improve some, so I'd hate to bet against them.

It will be an interesting weekend in football!

Durrrrrrr. I don't know anything about this stuff. All I know is that the Alouettes are leading the East.
