NOW WATCHING

Oh shit! I meant has anyone seen The Holy Grail? I'm such a [!--emo&:nana:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/lambada.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'lambada.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I've seen it five times or so for sure. I've even got a double DVD package of it with one disc of extras such as sing-alongs, Terry Gilliam's sketches, a short film where Terry Jones and Michael Palin revisits the shooting locations, two scenes with Japanese dubbing, one scene reconstructed in Lego and loads of other stuff I'm sad enough to watch...

It's not quite as good as Life of Brian IMO but still one of the funniest films ever made!

Uhm... yes? That is just about the best film ever made?

The best bit must be the part where John Cleese comes charging towrds the guards at the castle and then massacres half the castle while shouting "Hah! Aaarggh! Rar!" I love the scene with the Black Knight to [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I just saw North Country with Charlize Theron. It is a very good movie ruined by the tiny font at the begining that says "inspired by a true story" which usually means "the following is 10% true 90% whatever the director and writer felt like making"
ASIDE from that, good movie about the 1985 trial that forced corporations to give woman equal rights in the work place (yet not equal pay...hmm) I highly recomend it, specially since there is hockey in it [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]. seriously though, shocking stuff, I can't believe any man would treat any woman like that.... regardless of the situation.

Urotsukidoji - Legend Of the Overfiend
Well all I can react to this movie is [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/blink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'blink.gif\' /][!--endemo--] I'm tired so I'm not going into it. Maybe somebody else has seen it and will know what I'm talking about. With the Japanese, it's either completely over the top cuteness or gore-mania.

Partly inspired by the brief discussion on it here, I have watched "The Exorcist" this evening.

I've seen it two years ago and then maybe three or four years before that (the first time I thought it was shitty, the second time it really struck me)... So it was basically a new experience.

I was familiar with the plot and setting, I think I have seen just about every parody on every part of the film, but I must say this is indeed a really scary film. However, it is one of the cases where I wish I had been around when it was first released.

Well i'm no huge fan of movies like Saving Private Ryan but this one really got into me. It refects many emotions When Ryans mother recieved which informed her about the fact that every son she had, except Ryan has been killed in action she was devastated. This is very understandable 'couse I know how I would react if my brother gets killed. I really was moved when i thought of how it was to be a mother in ww2 who's (almost) entire family is dead. The war scene's are very well made and realistic and my favourite part is when the rescuepatrol finally finds Ryan and he refuses to step down from his post and abandon his men when he knew the germans would attack. I really admire his courage. 5/5

Star wars 3: I think this is the best serie of films ever made. I really like the story and the whole"force stuff" Becouse the movies came in the order 4-5-6 and then 1-2-3, I adore the 3rd becouse it connects everything and there's a bunch of extremely epic moments like when anakin puts on the Darth Vader suit and Obi vs Anakin duel. The mustafar scenes must be the best animations i have ever seen. It's a lava planet and theres many close- ups at the lava. The other special effects are great, for instance, now they are able to make the lips on machine- figures move more realistic and actually form words. A clear 5 star

With conor's thread about classical music I thought I should mention that this past weekend I rented Disney's Willie the Operatic Whale (which also included Ferdinand the Bull and Lambert the Sheepish Lion hehe). I remembered loving it as a kid and a lot of the songs and images were forever embedded in my brain and I have to say I enjoyed it just as much if not more than when I was 5. [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--] good stuff, where has the wholesome Disney gone? At least something good came out of that thread [!--emo&:P--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--], besides the arguments definig classical music anyway.

You talkin' to me?

I've just watched Taxi Driver, and I found it very disappointing. Robert De Niro is one of my favourite actors (someway behind Al Pacino), but I just didn't see much in this film. I just saw Cruel Intentions. I liked it very much. It has fine humour, but also shows a love-story and just shows how deceitfull people can be... a 4.5/5 or even a 5/5 as far as I'm concerned.

Revenge of the Sith was a dreadful movie IMO. It doesn't matter if the animations are good when the plot line is as pathetic as this. It really fails to link together the trilogies given the amount of contradictions between the two and Anakin's turning to the dark side - which was supposed to be the main focus of the movie - is stashed away in a couple of minutes to make room for some more flashy effects. Major disappointment.

Last movie I saw was Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was very interesting and visually impressive (more so than Revenge of the Sith IMO) but a bit too dragged out in places. Still well worth seeing though if you haven't already!

I've noticed people say that about a lot of films from the 70's. "they drag", "nothing happens" etc. Aren't people PATIENT anymore? does everybody want the big explosions and naked women prancing? (that last one doesn't sound too bad [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]). But seriously, Cinematography, the camera movement, the DIALOGUE, character development and plot seemed more important back then than now. Star Wars is a perfect example even though they are really late 70's early 80's and the godfathers of the "blockbuster".
