Metallica

Not a huge fan of the single, but it's surprisingly very punk leaning thrash. From the short song length, to repetitive riffs and the lyrics with profanity.

Calling the album simply "Hardwired" would be better imo.

Didn't end up on the album. I expected it wouldn't be. And this is something they've done before the release of Death Magnetic, playing a demo song of ideas live then not end up using it.

Riffs from it might end up on different songs though.
 
Music sounds good, though the riffs aren't very imaginative. The production is light years better than the last two albums, so that's a plus. James' voice sounds like he actually took time tracking this one - thank God.

Honestly, it sounds like Kill 'Em All but with a terrible chorus. These guys aren't angry. They're middle-aged parents. What a stupid, unbelievable chorus.

Overall, I'm excited. Double album?! This news came out of nowhere.
 
80 minutes is a risk though. Overwrought songs on Death Magnetic was one of its biggest problems, and this one is even longer.
 
Haven't listened to the single yet but nothing about this seems promising. From the artwork to the album title to the song titles. Double album can go either way. On one hand it's certainly justified considering how long it took, but it's also Metallica and they tend to bloat their songs big time.

I expect when this comes out everyone will be making their own single disc version.
 
I strongly suspect that this album will be 'Death Magnetic pt. II' as I can't hear anything remotely different from what was on pt. I. The music video is pretty rubbish. There's barely a clear shot of any band member and it's likely to give someone a seizure.
 
Very Kill 'Em All, IMHO. About as half-great and half-annoying as Hit the Lights. 80 minutes will definitely be overkill, though...
 
Hm. Not bad, not good. I'll get the album, there's going to be a good song on it. I don't expect more.
 
I liked the song. There were tempo issues. Lars....

Looking forward to the album, gonna preorder it here shortly.
 
Laughably bad chorus, everything else was awesome. Very impressed with the production. I'm looking forward to this. I just hope the rest of the album isn't James sounding like a 15 year old who's mad at his mom.
 
Lars drum sound has a really modern metal vibe to it. Like that really polished sound some Metal bands use. Especially in the kick. Not sure if I like it, but if the alternative is Death Magnetic I'll happily take the artificial sounding drums.
