London 2012 Olympics

Milos Raonic of Canada played a third set that went through 48 matches with some guy from France. Incredible. I was sad to see him lose, but it was a truly epic tilt.

A great performance indeed ! (Tsonga is currently number 6 on the ATP ranking, so really excellent fight).

Sweden took a silver medal in individual horse riding or something yesterday. Yay, we have a medal.

Today I realized Norway actually has a good fencer as well! Bartosz Piasecki, who came from Poland with his family when he was two, has qualified for the final in the men's épée competition! How cool is that!

The amount of different events in swimming is baffling, I have to say. 17 different events for men! Most distances are swum in all different styles. And unlike running, the same swimmer can do well in many of them.

There's a good chance of at least one British Medal in the men's 200m Breaststroke this evening. It was good to see the British athletes finally start to win gold medals in the rowing and cycling this morning. Crushing victories as well!

The Badminton scandal (never thought I would see myself typing that) is interesting. 4 women's doubles teams were DQ'd for purposely throwing matches to get a better draw in the next round. From what I read it got to the point where the fans were heavily booing the players as it was so blatant what was happening.

The national Norwegian broadcaster just showed a summary of those badminton matches. It was really that blatant. They would have lost against a couple of kids playing in the garden.

They were actually just dropping the shuttlecock onto their rackets then letting it fall to the ground. Like...wow. Insulting. Ridiculous.

I have this doubt for a long time: Why the "Great Britain" is competing as GB and not as UK if Northern Ireland is not competing separately?

Officially the "team" is called Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I hate the name "Team GB" and I'd rather the "team" was the UK rather than the horrible, Americanized phrase "Team GB".

There's all these countries that split into two or more teams already... so I'm suprised it hasn't been split into England/Wales/Scotland. It would also get around the whole national anthem issue earlier on (Not that England has a seperate one.. GSTQ is the UK/England one.... Jerusalem is the best fitting for England only). Did notice during the matches yesterday ppl were doing the Rule Britannia tune, which for me makes that more of a national anthem :P

Watched the GB vs S. Africa men's hockey yesterday, 2-2... 1-0 to GB until last 10 minutes, 2-2 at 2:30 to go. I love how fast paced the game is in comparison to something like football.

Scotland may be independent by the Rio games, so hard to say what's going to happen there.

Watching C2 semis and K1 semis right now. What a cool sport the kayak and canoeing is. I thoroughly enjoy it.

We don't have any extra TV channels over the standard and I tend not to watch online so am at the mercy of BBC1/3.

Just watched the Clay Pigeon and C2's (? I think). GB gold in shooting and Gold/Silver in C2's.

China storming ahead on the medals though.
