Am I a bastard for pointing out that my computer works flawlessly?  :P (Maybe I'm just putting myself in position for a gigantic backfire ... I'd better backup my work files asap)
 
Sounds like a new disk is needed, Perun. Disks don't last forever and if you've had it before, it's likely to get worse.

An expensive, and over the top, solution to stop issues with HDD failures is to get two or three - and RAID protect them.
 
Sounds like it. It's pretty frustrating though, I only got this laptop (including the disk) half a year ago...  :S

What's RAID protection?
 
Geez, I'm so f'kin sick and tired of studying for tomorrow's exam, it's the second time I have to take it (i.e. I failed the first time), and I just can't make myself study for it anymore... Ah, I'll repeat everything again tomorrow morning...

@Perun - RAID is when you connect two or more identical hard drives and configure each of them to make identical copies of all data, so that you have double or triple redundancy - if any of the HDDs fails, you've got your data backed up on others.

Sorry I'm late on this one, but when I saw this I had to comment.  I read a review of this song that was absolutely brilliant.  It concluded with the following line:  "I would rather hear gunshots from my child's room than another song by Rebecca Black."

Too late.  And I tend to agree with Perun, it's harmless tween schlock that is catchier than you think.  Heck, this girl might actually make some cash -- I read that Friday was on the iTunes charts.  Good for her.

Well, its all over the place now.  I heard she was given a bunch of shit from some teen girls about how horrible she was, but she has a hit and they don't.  Success is good revenge.

I suppose it is, but I have an old HD lying around that I built out of the last laptop that decided to leave this world (half a year ago). So that would make things easier right now... if I had a clue how to actually open this one. I can twist and turn it as much as I want, I can't find a single screw. Maybe if I took out the battery, I haven't tried that yet.
 
I'll take a look at it when I find the time... right now, I'm sitting in the uni computer pool desperately waiting for Clio to return from her apparent holiday. Or maybe those two hours of sleep last night weren't enough.

I looked over that link, and it actually says the HDD is hard to find.  Meh, if i see something else, I'll let you know.

Until then, I need to find a way to lift my mood. Sleeplessness, hard drive crash, lack of progress with my thesis and the usual end-of-month cash shortage really do sum up. Plus, I can't listen to any music right now because the spare battery I brought along for my MP3 player turned out to be a dead one, and the computer I'm on has an audio block installed.
 
Does your mp3 player take disposable batteries, or does it have a charge cable? You might be able to get power over USB.
 
Well, what do you say. I tried the USB charge several hours ago and it didn't work. Now I tried it again for what it's worth... and it works. The only downside is that I can't see the display.
