Muhammad Ali talking about his "phantom punch" to knock down Sonny Liston. The guy is a genius.

The ending of the fight remains one of the most controversial in boxing history. Midway through the first round, Sonny Liston threw a left jab and Ali went over it with a fast right, knocking the former champion down. Liston went down on his back. He rolled over, got to his right knee and then fell on his back again. Many in attendance did not see Ali deliver the punch. The fight quickly descended into chaos. Referee Jersey Joe Walcott, a former world heavyweight champion himself, had a hard time getting Ali to go to a neutral corner. Ali initially stood over his fallen opponent, gesturing and yelling at him, "Get up and fight, sucker!" and "Nobody will believe this!"

So a band called Max Creeps announced their break up recently, shocking a number of prominent rock musicians, although despite their supposed 40+ year career us mortals have never heard of them. Then they announced they were reuniting and released a new single.

Supposedly it's a new side project of... someone's. The marketing move was a good idea, but the song's pretty crap so I'm not too interested in finding out who it is.

Janick once said he hates bands that do that

Wound up in a restaurant this evening just when the big football derby was on, which meant the place was packed. Ended up having to wait for over two hours for dinner, which was because of the massive traffic, but also because the kitchen fucked up our orders. The poor waitress couldn't do anything but run back to the kitchen all the time to get things right. I felt really sorry for her, because she was so uncomfortable with the situation. She ended up scratching the food from the bill on her own accord which was a great gesture, and I gave her what I hope was a good tip for that. I told her that I realise we just had bad luck. On the other hand, I didn't really mind sitting there for all that time because otherwise I'd just have been at home being worried.
I'm glad you had something to help you be less worried. I'm praying for your mom a lot and hope she is doing better.

We're getting some of that crap right now! It sucks even more after being in Florida.

I got put on antibiotics for an "abscess" in my leg. I was thinking this inflamed area in my leg was either ringworm or Lyme's. The doctor I saw today just said it was an abscess and prescribed mee antibiotics. I really don't like going on antibiotics. They always make me sick to my stomach and take me out of commission for about a week.

I really hope the doctor is right about this just being an abscess in my leg. There's not any opening on the skin or anything, I guess it is deeper. The doctor only spent about 2 and a half minutes with me from walking in the door to heading out of the door. Oh well. If he's wrong I'll see in a week. I was going to pick up a six pack tonight and listen to Ratt but I'm going to avoid alcohol until after I'm done with my antibiotics.

I suppose a relative lack of communication is better than going round and round with them until they lay it down. I’m sure the morning after you’ll be back for more anyway.

Good to avoid booze with antibiotics, or the next thing you know you’ll have a slip of the lip and tell the world you think you’re tough, which would be a little too much. Just listen to your body talk, don’t let go, and avoid any alcohol-fueled lost weekend. In your situation that’s as good as it gets.
