You've been on a train only once?
As far as I know, I’ve only been on a train once too (technically two trips though because I went to and fro). This is was in Germany. The rail system in America isn’t nearly as prominent as it is in Europe, and I live in a rural part of the country anyway. The company that used to run trains here went bankrupt a few years ago, which is incredibly sad, but you can now walk the tracks without fear of being run over.

Yeah, I admit that I don't know anything about the American rail system. What I know is that I've traveled to all my concerts by train except one.

He's got that 'kind of posh old English bloke' voice, yes.
Bruce's "posh" speaking voice was the initial spark that first got me curious about Maiden. When I first saw "Metal Britannia" (which was on again a few days ago) I remember thinking "that's Bruce Dickinson? But he's so well-spoken, and quite frankly a bit posh." Not sure what I was expecting since I don't believe I'd thought about it at all previously, but for some reason it surprised me.

It doesn't really shock me either. Rural and remote areas in the US are known to be poorly connected to the passenger network, and it doesn't make sense to travel by train for longer distances if high speed trains aren't available and the cost is higher than bus or plane.

Yeah. All we had in my nineteen years of existence were freight trains anyway (except for Christmas when they had a special “Santa train” which was always cool).

Unless you live in the highly populated corridors (Detroit through Montreal, DC through Boston, San Jose through San Fran) train travel doesn't make much sense in the US or Canada. There's just too much emptiness.
