The worst part of my current commute is a short but awkward stretch of single-track road with passing places which goes up a hill, is not straight and has a nearly blind bend at each end.
The other day I was going up that stretch of road and I could see that the two vehicles up a bit ahead had their brake lights on so I knew they were trying to get past another vehicle coming towards us. So I dropped into the next passing place to let the other vehicle come through. The BT Openspace van behind me, however, without hesitation overtook me in the passing place and ploughed headlong into the gap, only to have to brake sharply and reverse back down the hill when he met the aforementioned vehicle (another transit van) in the narrow bit.
Seriously, what a wanker! Did he think people just randomly stop in passing places to enjoy the view?? He had to try and reverse into the same passing place I was in, and although I reversed back as far as I could he couldn't get in properly and the other van had to get right up onto the verge to get past him.
When I recounted this at work later one of my colleagues said "one day she's going to come in and say "sorry I'm late, I punched a van driver". I can totally imagine that happening".
I actually like the idea that I might turn out to be the kind of person who punches van drivers ...
