So , uhm, is this a good thing going forward or not?

Just hope this won't be fought over on the back of their population and without gunfire

Turkey has history of coups performed by military in order to preserve democracy and secularism, as designed by Atatürk.

I'm back. It's a bad thing. Erdoğan will get even stronger. WAY stronger. Irreversibly stronger.

Issue is way more complicated than "army has taken over". Army hasn't taken over. A Gülenist junta in the army tried to take over. Rest of the army is fighting against this group.

A huge bomb exploded. Heard it very clearly. A bomb exploded on the Parliament.

Edit: Another one exploded. Whole city heard it. TV heard it, I heard it. Windows shaking.

Really struggling right now, very shaken up mentally. Cry-get it together-cry-get it together is how it goes. Our windows got shaken. Heard 4-5 huge explosions.

Let me remind you: This coup was attempted by a fundamental Islamic group (Gülenists, led by Fethullah Gülen) who came at odds with AKP. They had a strong base in the army and they attempted to overthrow them. There's nobody to cheer for here. All people of Turkey stand together against this attempt.

They shot citizens. They bombed the parliament. They took hostages. They took the government television and forced the announcer to speak on their behalf. Fuck them. Fucking pieces of shit. They pretend this is "for the betterment of people". Fucking liars. Gülenists have always caused problems for this country. They only care about their own power. Fucking scum.

Turkey has history of coups performed by military in order to preserve democracy and secularism, as designed by Atatürk.

And this one isn't one of them. This is an attack on our nation by a thirsty-for-power Islamic terrorist group, doesn't matter who's in power here.

If what you are saying is true, and I do not doubt it, these people droning on and on on CNN clearly have no clue what they are talking about

The western media often depicts the Gülenists as being harmless or wanting a "modern" version of Islam.

Utter bullshit. Gülenists were allied with AKP for years. They only recently fell apart. They're a big reason why this country has gone down the drain.

Gülen lives in Pennsylvania. The way U.S. defends him is one of my biggest beefs with them.

What are they saying? Are they portraying this as something positive?

Gülenists are terrorists. They opened fire on citizens, took innocent people as hostages and bombed the parliament multiple times. Dunno how the U.S. and the Western media are gonna try to defend them now. This is not a coup attempt. This is fucking terrorism.

Nothing really positive, but they are not making it really clear that it is a portion of the military ... they seemed to indicate it is "the military" Though now they are saying parts of the military are pro-government. If I had not read what you said, I would think a decent chunk of the military was part of the coup with some loyalist elements for the government. Though now, they have someone on ( a reporter) that is in Turkey and seems familiar with the situation saying pretty much what you are saying.

Need to go catch my plane home .. stay safe and hopefully this will be over soon.
