Today the weather was positively spring like in old Scotchland. I had an ice cream & it felt right. Later, I tried to feed a 15M DSL cable under my house via the basement. The basement is dark & dirty. That too felt right...

Here's a question for you. It's either an answer here, or flipping a coin.

I have to be up at 7 am for class. I have some things to take care of right now, by the time they're finished, it'll be 3 am. Should I stay up and risk the suffering of having to stay at uni until 6 pm without any sleep, or sleep for 4 hours and risk failing to wake up?

Bear in mind that I woke up at 3 pm today and that I have a tendency to say "Fuck it" and go back to sleep when I struggle to wake up in the morning.

Oh I should say waking up is not the issue. Getting up is. :p

Anyway the work is taking a longer time than I imagined, so I'm probably gonna be stuck with a shorter time of sleep anyway. Decided to go for it however long it might be.

I often find that 1-2 hours of sleep is better than 4-5 hours of sleep. Because I tend to go into heavy sleeping after the 4 hour mark, which makes it difficult to wake up because it's not sufficient. Whereas 1-2 hours of sleep doesn't let you to go into that heavy sleep thus making it easier to wake up and still gives you some rest.

Brilliant start to Easter vacation. I have this whole week plus Monday off, but it didn't start too well. Left work early on Thursday with a fever and spent Friday and Saturday alternating between the couch and the toilet. Things are getting better since yesterday, but the appetite is still limited.

At least I'm now in a shape to log on and complain about it.

I never give money to the homeless, I have given them food once in a while (usually when on vacation if we have extra stuff when we are leaving) . When we went to Berlin, the gypsies were pretty numerous and aggressive .. annoying as fuck

Neither do I, to these types that look like professional beggars.
On the other hand, a few weeks ago, a senior citizen stops me to ask do I have any spare change, for milk? I said sure, opened up wallet and saw that the smallest bill I have is 50 (about 7eur). Ah well fuck it, and I give it out.

Then a friend told me that he knows the guy, he gave him 20 once (again guy asked for milk), just to see him 30 mins afterwards pretty drunk.
If I see that old dude I'm going to verbally fuck his entire extended family plus any religious motifs he might hold dear.

Edit, re: overnights. Yup I'd do that too. I would be scared of potential oversleep and just stay up.

This is why you do not ask the internet to do anything

LONDON — When scientists in the U.K. asked the public to name their new $290 million polar research ship, they expected the name of an explorer such as Sir Ernest Shackleton or a naturalist like David Attenborough to eventually be emblazoned across the vessel's bow.
However, they didn't factor in the Brits' oddball sense of humor.By 9 a.m. Monday (5 a.m. ET), more than 27,000 people had voted to name the ship "RRS Boaty McBoatface."
When contacted by NBC News early Monday, a staffer at the research council said no public affairs officials were available to speak because they were all in a "crisis meeting."
NERC Director of Corporate Affairs Alison Robinson said in an emailed statement later Monday: "We are very much enjoying hearing everyone's ideas." But she pointed out that the poll was not binding, with the research council reserving the right to have the final say on naming the state-of-the-art vessel.

LOL.

Reminds me of a cabin cruiser I saw down in southern Norway once, which had the name Her Idea ...

That reminds me of the time NASA asked the world to name a ISS module and "Colbert" won. He also tried to get a bridge in Hungary named after him too.

Also, I just want to say that the internet sucks. Boaty McBoatface is a regular ship name. If it is a polar research vessel, it should be RRS Dr. Boaty McColdface, PhD.

I gave up and read the setlist, having known all but
five
tracks anyway.

I'm sorry but what did you expect giving 7 euros to a beggar? Seems like a hyperbolic reaction to me.

Regarding the 2nd one among those I listed. I'm a bit surprised Maiden have put song names on their FB posts several times, seems like they weren't aware that some (many?) fans want the setlist to be a surprise. Or that they didn't care. But judging by this forum, it is quite common to avoid the setlist before going.
