The song wasn't terrible to listen to, not my thing at all but if you closed your eyes you could understand it winning.... but as it is a visual event too... WTF. UK gave them 12, that made me ashamed. Netherlands was the one I enjoyed most of them all, but none were particularly amazing.

Eurovision is basically pointless, but I used to watch it as a kid with my parents back when it seemed mildly decent, so I'll usually sit down with my mum and we'll despair over the random shite that people enter. TBH, it used to be worth watching for me because the entries were either outstandingly good (and I'd actually be disappointed if my favourite didn't win) or so amazingly bad that it was just hilarious.... now I mostly watch out of tradition. Is it a bad and pointless contest? yes, but it's only one evening and it's a social thing, I see it as similar to sitting around with friends at uni, having a drink and watching a terrible B-Movie. It's entertainment even if not the way they intend it.
 
Netherlands 2nd. Best result since 1975 (when we won for the fourth and last time). Not a bad song. A calm one, in the midst of all these frantic acts.

Same here Crimson, well worded! A: a nice tradition, and B: if you are (chatting) with people -with (dry) humour- it's an entertaining evening, commenting on all those acts (and presenters giving the votes).
 
I watched Eurovision only for the televoting thing before. Turkey hasn't entered the competition since 2012 and there's been no broadcast.
 
The contest itself is imo pointless these days. There is less variation in the music for one, and for the other the voting is very predictable - there is a lot of block voting normally, usually gets mentioned by our presenters when a country doesn't give 12 points to specific others. Can usually guess the winners, the more generic pop songs.

But, it's entertainment even if it is a different type of entertainment. It provides laughter, that's all that matters to me :)

That song was described as Country and Western when it was shown here, I didn't really feel there was any aspect other than a very faint slide guitar and the solo. It was a nice song though, felt like it was going into Every Breath You Take at times ;)
 
Oh, Eurovision. That was moderately amusing. First time I've seen it for years, nice to see people still write songs about cheesecake and moustaches.

That song was exactly my association. Chord scheme, tempo, rhythm and atmosphere.
 
Beautiful sunset and vernal warmth have a certain melancholy to them.

Has anyone else been getting pop-up ads lately despite having Adblock?
