Gdansk was nice because the Old Town area was reasonably compact .. so there was a ton to eat/drink/see within a 15 minute walk of the apartment we rented ... then there were boats there that could take you to Westerplatte or Sopot (the town, not the arena). There was a train that went from Old Town to the arena ... we did not do that because we had a car and wanted to see some other stuff while we were out.

The Marienburg Castle would the only thing hard to get to without a car, ...I am sure a bus goes out there though.
