I feel like there was far greater buzz last year when the tour started. This one has been going surprisingly quietly.

Yes but not just that.
Last year there were those Report From the Road videos. There were more videos on YouTube and I believe an entire show was uploaded after the second or third night. There was also plenty of media coverage.

True, but that's always the case with American tours. American fans are generally a lot more enthusiastic with Maiden gigs and online media. European tours are always a lull compared to that.

Well in that case, I'm glad another American tour is coming, even if it's just a few dates. Since I'm not going anyway, I might as well watch some footage.

News here is reporting that the Turkish government has "apologized" for the crackdown, calling it "wrong and unjust." Can't tell if that's genuine or just a lame attempt to appease protesters. Flash, what news from Turkey?

Lame attempt. Events and brute police force continue. It was just a desperate attempt to stop the protests by vice prime minister Bülent Arınç, prime minister does not back off.

There was a funny slogan roaming around the social media following the statement by Arınç : "You are scared, arınç you?"

It appears that at least the government knows public/world reaction is breaking against them ... I would guess they will make some concessions to try to make this go away ... all in all, the protest seem to have had an affect.

35 people (19-25 years old) in İzmir were taken into custody because of their tweets. Erdoğan called Twitter "a pain in the neck" yesterday and police have gotten the message, it seems.
