Aaaaand ... we are on page 1975. The year which should really be the new Year 0, the beginning of a whole new era. The year when Steve Harris had had enough of having his ideas turned down by others, and made his vision real by forming his own band.

And there was much rejoicing.

1975. The birth of a certain Dutch fellow. It wasn't a worldwide event but look what happened next in hard rock:

One month older than Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
24 days older than Sabotage.
In the month Caress of Steel was recorded.
In the month Wish You Were Here was recorded.
In the month Sad Wings Of Destiny was recorded.

In the year Iron Maiden was born.

Not very different from Mick Wall's. There are a couple of interviews there with various people outside Maiden, talking about the band but if you've read Run to the Hills, you don't really need this one.

I am afraid I have it (unless the author is different). But the ridiculous thing is that right after I bought it (yeaaaars ago) I realized that it was unofficial (pretty dumb, I know) and I thought it wouldn't be interesting. Still haven't read it yet.

I believe that I am 1 spammer account short of 100 bans on the day.... come on spammers, I wanna cross that mark!

It really was.

And, for Per, cause I know this will end up with him consuming hours on Youtube:

Yes, but what is the capital of Assyria?

That is actually a tricky question, because Assyria had several capitals over time. In the Old Assyrian Empire, it was Assur, from which the country had its name. In the New Empire, it was Nineveh, although for a while, the kings resided in Khorsabad. Nineveh was destroyed in 612 BCE, and afterwards, Nisibis and Assur were the most important cities of the region. The next reference point we have is really the short-lived Roman province of Assyria that existed between 115 and 117 CE, and was the name given by the Romans to the country of Adiabene. The capital of Adiabene was Arbela, modern-day Erbil, a town you might know from an Iron Maiden song. Erbil is now the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. So I would say that the correct answer in the movie would have been Arbela.
