Actually, this is the record. 15 cm of snowfall and it's been below or around zero (c), since Thursday night. We don't have necessary services and/or utilities to cope with the situation. Main avenues and several bigger roads are cleaned but the typical neighborhood streets are covered in ice. Around ~ 50 cases of fractures daily in the central hospital.
Most of the highrise / condo block areas have up to 15.000 people / sq.km, and there's a big parking problem. So people park on the sides of the road. Naturally, that snow-machine-thing can't do anything because the road is blocked by cars, nor can people move them, even if they had a place to move them.
Now, the ugliest thing about close to zero / below zero temperatures in Dalmatia are Bora winds. It's
unbelievably cold. My boss was in Nassfeld on skiing 10 days ago, and he said that it's way nicer up there on -15(c) than here on -1(c). FYI, we have this thing called "orkanska bura", eg. hurricane-level Bora once or twice per year, and the word hurricane really fits it. It's the thing that slams trees and moves cars around. So imagine having ice, snow, and below zero wind hitting from any direction at 100 knots. Yes it's a north-eastern wind, but in reality it strikes from anywhere.
Collapse of the public infrastructure (transportation, power, eg.), shortage of toilet paper, bread and essentials (yes, that's right. People here behave like it's Armageddon and they've stormed the shops for supplies, and transportation is crippled so the shops are half-empty), very cold and bad weather, iced pavements and major that genuinely doesn't give a fuck. On the positive side, he's not the only one that doesn't give a fuck;
