There are no lasses in this town in July. At least noone within legal age.

Well, that is a drag.  I'll see if I can scoop some up for the both of us this weekend.  ;)

You see, this is a student city. All the students fuck off when the spring exams finish early in June, and they don't return until medio August - and by that time I'm in the middle of Africa (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Keep the flag flying!

I played with it a bit. Not sure what's going on though. Is there a tutorial on the game?

Would be cool to meet Albie.
Regretfully, it's looking doubtful that I will make it. It's down to a new business venture that my wife is undertaking from 1st August onwards and that week is pretty much full on.

My firm is switching from Windows XP/Office 2003 to Windows 7/Office 2010.   Apparently the transition is creating havoc for the "pilot" users -- old dog new tricks problems.  Any thoughts/advice from the IT guys on this forum?
This is something our company is going to be doing next year. Until we have done this I can't really suggest much in  the way of advice. I don't use Office outside of work and never will (and if I was ever able to convince the company to use an open office product, I will never use it - ever) so the difference between Office 2003 and 2010 is going to be something I find out next year, but I have used Windows 7 on my new laptop but as it dual boots, I hardly ever use Windows 7. I have no need.

Biggest thing our firm is doing this year is upgrading our iSeries from V5R4 to V7R1. And that's my project.

Bad timing. Too bad.

What to do? What to do? I still have some work left on my thesis, and I'd really like to just get it done, but on the other hand - football coming up on the telly.

Ah, the difficult choices ...

The topic is chemical engineering. The title of the thesis is "Identifying active constraint regions for optimal operation of process plants - with application to LNG and distillation processes". ...(etc.)

Cheers! I must admit that the Tanzania trip sounds a bit more appealing to me. ;)
If I may ask, how did you guys think up such an adventurous plan? And why Tanzania in particular?

Well, one of the two guys I usually go hiking with in the summer, had long wanted to visit Mt Kilimanjaro. Myself and the third guy agreed that it was a good idea, and we decided that August this year was a good time (the idea was first mentioned in a Christmas card in 2009  :)) The reason for this particular time was that I knew I would probably finish my thesis around this time.

As for the other parts of the trip - we felt it would be stupid to go all the way to East Africa just to climb a mountain, when there are other things to do and see there as well. So we decided on a four-day safari and three days of pure relaxation in Zanzibar.
