And 11 is the number of studio albums sung by Bruce.
Also 11 is the number of players in one team of Steve's favourite sport.

22 will be my age next year

It depends. If you're like every other teenager it's fairly easy. All you need to do is learn tabs and basic techniques. But If you want to actually learn it as an art form and learn real music theory, then yes, it is hard and complicated. And it takes thousands of hours of investment, but it is worth every second. Go for it. And I would suggest doing the latter. We have too many kids lazily learning Free Bird and MOP and the basic stuff and never invest in learning music.

I've been in band for about two years, I understand the seven basic notes in music, ABCDEFG and how stuff like Db = E#

Are you the singer? The basic notes is  a start. There is a lot more to it, key signatures, scales, modes, and the like.

I do know alot of the key sigatures, 9/12 4/4 4/2 etc. I've only memorized a few of the scales, A Ab Eb Bb Chromatic, what are modes again? Three months of not being in band has kinda messed me up.

no that's time signatures. And I don't think there is such thing as 9/12 since 12 can't be the bottom number. Key signatures look like this:

That's G major (or E minor which everyone here is familiar with as Maiden have beaten that key to death.)

Modes are a bit complicated, I have trouble explaining them, maybe SMX can explain better. He's very advanced with music. These are the types I remember though:

Ionian
Dorian
Phrygian
Mixolydian
Lydian

Sorry I confused the 12 with 8, I haven't looked at my band book in a while. Yeah I do remember the key signatures, the scales were what the notes started and ended on. Eb would be in Eb (of course) then would go concert Eb to concert Eb(higher octave) down to Eb(same octave they started on)

I just realized you were the french horn guy, James. I forgot you were playing an instrument already. Yea, guitar shouldn't be too difficult. Just practice a lot. I found that learning Saxophone actually improved my guitar playing in a weird way. Maybe french horn will somehow make guitar easier for you.

Does your band have any songs that we could hear James?

We may have recorded a few practices before, I'll have to scan through our facebook band page. In fact I've got band camp in 7 hours, why am I staying up on Maiden fans?

Modes relate to scales. Take any given scale (now say we take C major to make notation easy). Each mode of the scale is the same sequence of notes, but with different start points. In C major the first mode is CDEFGABC, aight? The second mode is DEFGABCD, and so on. Those names you list are five out of seven. In ascending order, the seven modes used in modern music theory are:

Ionian
Dorian
Phrygian
Lydian
Mixolydian
Aeolian
Locrian

By the way, there are now two strong beers standing on the shelf. Waiting for me and a colleague of mine, we shall drink them once I have submitted my thesis (which means by lunchtime today  :yey:)
I included the quote:

"Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship,
Upon a painted ocean"

in the acknowledgements section of my thesis. Do I earn kudos points for that?
