When Martin Johnson was the England rugby captain, he was viewed as the best captain of any international team in any sport (not necessarily my view, but that of an American news site - can't recall which but it was not Fox).

A few years back, he got appointed the manager of England without any previous experience of coaching at all, having being a TV pundit since retiring from playing the sport. After a very, very shaky start, he is becoming a very good coach.

Bring on the 2011 world cup.

An American site judges who is the best captain of any international team in any sport?
How did they do that? How did they gather the same knowledge of every international sport team in the whole world?

Tell me about it. I really need to bang my head again, my neck is acting like it owns the place. But, I'm seeing Sabaton and Alestorm on Tuesday, so that ought to do the trick. At least till Blaze Bayley in December.
Foro, in case you read this, I got your PM and will let you know when I've taken care of everything. For some reason, I can't send PMs right now (or I sent you five in a row, in which case I apologise).

Thanks mate. Haven't received the pm, but no prob!

(I don't think my inbox is full, I've thrown away a lot recently.)

Eh, you posted another post and you're still at 6666.  ::)

I'm not sure, but I can say that when he was captain, he certainly was deserving of the reputation he had for being an excellent captain. The best in any sport? I can't comment as I don't know.

Anyway, there is an TV advert running in the UK at the moment featuring Motorhead doing Ace of Spades. But slowed right down to a bluesy version. It's not that bad, actually: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN0RDA4yzBA&

Totally random and exceptionally useless fact of the day:

The word "fairy" is derived from Persian peri which describes a magical, sometimes mischievous creature in medieval Iranian mythology. It is often associated with djinns (genies) and other fabulous beings. Like many other Persian words, it got into the European languages via Arabic. The Arabic language however does not have the p sound, so they use whatever other sound is phonetically similar in the context. This may be b (used on Arab Pepsi cans, which read Bibsi) or, much more often, f. Another word which went through this transition and even came back to the Iranian languages this way was Pars and Parsi (attributive form, used to name language and people). This word had been known in the west since ancient Greek times, as Persis and Persai, and became latinised as Persia. The Arabs rendered the word Fars and Farsi respectively.
