Bleh. There's a Maiden cover band playing tonight, and a great party afterwards, and I can't go.

Well, I saw that band a few years ago I think, and they were pretty naff. But damnit.

Bof. I went to search for some furniture, plus a Mac condom, plus an 1 Tera fancy external, plus a fancy bag for me Mac. I find a shit, plus I had to walk kilometers in this huge Mall for it.  :(

I guess the malls are quite huge in Dubai ... I was dragged into a really huge one in Qatar by two of my fellow conference participants last year. Fortunately we found a quite nice Indian restaurant in there.

Yeap, not all of them worthy though. Dubai Mall (where I went and where I usually go) is -they say- the biggest in the world. Personally, I love it, it's one of the few Malls with an exceptionally nice atmosphere and a top quality of shops. It's difficult to find both. Second I'd say with a big difference the Festival City one. After that, the chaos: There is Mercato & Wafi with nice atmosphere but not that big variety of shops and there are hundreds of other Malls with occasionally some good shops, but nothing special as atmosphere.

As for food, in Dubai Mall, there is the most decent Chinese Restaurant I've been and a few others equally remarkable as well.

Qatar is rising power in Oil & Gas Industry, every month there are 2 -3 LNG Carriers from there in the Dry Dock. No wonder why you've been there. If you'll be in shipping after your PHD (which I wish for you), your main destinations will be 1) South Korea 2) Singapore 3) Dubai /Qatar 4) Brazil  :devil2:

I'd like you to take a look at this site. It's the leader among Classification Societies, it's based in Oslo, the working conditions there, are among the best in shipping industry, it has a lot of vacancies for Oil & Gas and it's always in quest for remarkable young scientist like thee.

I know, they were bragging a lot about it when I was there  :D

DNV? Well, I actually know a guy who works there, but he has a degree in Marine Technology and thus knows a helluvalot more about ships than I do. As for where I will end up .. only time will tell, but right now my next destination is the grocery store for a couple of beers, then my couch where I will enjoy said beers.

 and may you and all Maidenfans have a great weekend.

Naah, DNV is not only about ships, with your degree & nationality, you can make a great career there. For instance you may work, or transferred once you're there, in the Development of Rules Dept (only PHD accepted there) which is a big deal, man. Just apply, man. Just apply. Your friend has probably the same degree that I have and he's probably a mere surveyor as I am. But there's more than this, much more.

 Unfortunately I can't open a Guinness due to the antibiotics I take for my neck problem, but cheers anyway!!

Phone loaded with songs for every occasion. I would have filled the entire 2GB, but I only put the best song of every band I have, plus the rocker of every Maiden album.

I never explored the possibilities of any of my phones. Only sending /receiving SMS, talking and taking some photos occasionally.

I have an 8 gb iPod and it's not even close to what I actually need.

I could fill up the 120.
Surely there's only so much music you can listen to at any one time. :D

I have an 8gb SD card in my Blackberry, and it just gets refreshed with stuff I want to listen to every so often.

I work 10 hr days, and I listen to music during the whole run of it. 8 gb of music at 320kbps is not all that much, so I have to change stuff up quite often if I want to not get too bored.

Working on proof reading a Quality Control Manual.... oddly invigorating work. While time consuming I'm fascinated learning about Quality Control hahaha. I'm such a nerd.
