And hunters are usually among the top advocates for wildlife conservation.

Hunters are supposed to kill off animals in the most efficient way possible. I guess I should use another word than "violence", because firing a gun is obviously violence. But I was thinking about people torturing animals on purpose, just for a laff. The only people I respect less are those who do the same to other people.

Hunters who through sheer neglect don't kill their prey in the most efficient way, are not much better. If you don't think you can get a clean shot, killing the animal, you should not fire at all.

It is perhaps no surprise I'm opposed to bullfighting.

I wasn't saying that it was funny, just making the connection to B & B.

Hunting, here in the States, is probably more common than in Europe.  We have vast tracts of land full of wildlife and no human settlements, so there is plenty of area to cover.  In some cases, hundreds of acres are owned, and used to hunt on only.

Ii wasn't saying that you were saying so either  ;) I would know better than putting words in the mouth of a recently appointed moderator  :innocent:

By the way, Famous Grouse and similar stuff is quite common to bring when people hunt around here. After they've been out in the woods the whole day and shot nothing, they sit around the fireplace drinking Scotch and speak about the big moose they almost got  :D

I would risk guessing that hunting is even more practiced in northern Europe than the US, especially as our population density is quite a bit lower.  Hell, Finland has about as many guns/capita as the US, and this is mainly due to the abundance of hunters.  And, like Norway, the legislation on hunting is strict and extensive, and it is generally obeyed.

What Invader says about Finland goes for Norway as well (about number of firearms, and the contribution by hunters). I think I read somewhere that Norway is the country with most registered hunters per capita, but that might be an old statistic. I would guess Norway, Sweden, Finland and Canada were all high on that list. Lots of forest and not much people  :D

It must be the new album, cause I remember myself being for ages around the 1500 mark.
Cause I too, had some periods of inactivity, more that three months -not consecutive though- during the last six, so it must be that.

I like your avatar, is Dante there ?? ...Nel cazzo del cammin di nostra vita  ;)

Yeah, Loosey forever and all

The avatar is great.  As soon as I saw it, I had to have it.  Dante???

So, I have few ambitions for tonight.  Wash dishes, check.  Buy ice and vodka, check.  Fire up the xbox, check.  Drink heavily, queued.
