I'm surprised it's been listed as cancelled instead of postponed. Maybe wait till the official announcement.
Also, outdoor concerts are quite heavily restricted when it comes to lightning. It would have been the venue who pulled the plug most likely.

I was in the region of Bologna in the summer about 10 years ago, and a storm of absolutely biblical proportion erupted straight out of the blue, rain the likes of which I have never seen before, and I live in Ireland.
Support bands had played and all, no way promoters are paying the costs of organising a second gig in that scenario.
