I think that what we all try to say here is that the playlist could have been worse or better.

Well, I doubt that could do much better on the Aces High - Flight Of Icarus part of the set.

It's the FOTD - RTTH part of the set, that desperately needs another rare song...

Let's see . . . Drop RTTH, move Hallowed to the closing slot, and slide SIASL into the encore?

But honestly, there's so much good stuff in the main set that a semi-pedestrian end is kind of to be expected

ahaaa so I was right. But seriously now, was there ever a single person happy with any of the playlists over the years??? That's impossible if you think about it.

I would have been with the original AMOLAD tour leg in 2006, were I able to see it.

Also, accepting the fact there must be some classic stuff, I'd say that the setlist of Rock in Rio left little to be desired. The Shepherd's Bush one even less.

I cannot think of a better pair of songs to finish the show than Hallowed be Thy Name and Run to the Hills, two of the best metal songs ever written, the latter featuring a sing-a-long chorus to die for.

Pacing-wise, everything pretty much seems to flow perfectly - the only thing I could conceivably see them doing is dropping Wicker Man or Evil That Men Do for another short tune. Everything else is pretty cemented in the stage show.

Besides, all-in-all it's a great balance between deep cuts and hits. Much more so than the last history tour. In fact, this almost feels like the setlist balance that Maiden England should have been, a healthy dose of classics with some rare 80s tracks and later Blaze-era material thrown in.

I'll never understand why they close with anything other than Hallowed or RTTH. Running Free? Please- what a way to end on a bad note.

Running Free is pretty easy from a singing point of view, as is Sanctuary. :) Singing incredibly challenging songs in the encore does not seem to be a problem this year though! :lol:

It's impossible. But dropping FOTD for SIASL and moving Hallowed into pre-NOTB slot would serve multiple purposes:

-It fits with the theme of the show. Greedy father of Icarus, who persuaded his boy to fly is executed (HBTN) and sent to hell (NOTB, IM).
-It would make up for the lack of SIT songs, which is outright criminal. A best of (mainly 80's) tour without SIT songs?
-We would finally get rid of FOTD for a tour. If HBTN can be dropped (lawsuit or not), drop FOTD sometimes too...

And most selfish reason:
-That setlist would be the closest thing to perfect IM setlist ever. Probably can't get closer.

(Disclaimer: All things stated above are strictly in my opinion. Ah, I should add that as my signature).

If this were 2008 I'd agree with you, but listening to the Stockholm bootleg Bruce seems a bit hit-and-miss with the chorus IMO

I still maintain that Prowler would make a great closer

I agree that the DiAnno era ending songs are mostly disappointing. For me Wasted Years would be the perfect closer. Well, "realistic concert closer" - I can imagine few better things than ending any show with The Legacy or Como Estais Amigos, but let's be realistic and not too autistic. I also understand that most people want to leave concert in a good mood and Maiden tend to have real downers as album closers (TTAL, ATG, The Unbeliever, TTLBLAH even HBTN, if we look at it honestly)

I've always hated Prowler to be honest, doesn't do much for me musically! Wasted Years as a closer was a nice surprise in 2016-17 though.

In my humble opinion, he has not sounded this good on the song since 2008 and this time they are playing it as the last encore.
