Legacy of the Beast 2018 Tour

Some thoughts :

1. There'll be no real deep cuts on LOTB. They'll try to make ultimate best of tour in regards to set list and the stage production. This could again conquer new territories because it's a huge possibility that a song played on this tour (if it's not one of the few true staples) won't be played "ever again"

2. They'll do a new album and a new album tour

3. After 2021/2 they stop touring. Nicko could still be in good shape but not good enough to schedule months of hard touring in advance. I intentionally quoted "ever again" up there, my train of thought is that Maiden want to do a number of things outside their formal show format. The pace will be slow, shows could be sporadic, but they'll start releasing stuff from the vaults to stay in the news.

4. Iron Maiden won't have a new lineup member ever again. Iron Maiden will not ever call it quits or split up.

Edit and offtopic

Looking at 4. and thinking that would also, IMO, apply to Metallica as well

They have to call it quits, otherwise everyone will think is a farewell bullshit like Judas Priest, scorpions and kiss did a few years ago. They're a band with integrity.

What?

LOTB is not a farewell tour. Iron Maiden will never do a farewell tour, ffs.

Do you think that with LOTB they have simply decided that history-tours are done? No more part 3 tour for the history..but I hope to hear some deep cuts or atleast Infinite Dreams next year.
Or do you think that if the next tour after LOTB is new album tour, then for the last tour could it be some sort of ultimate history tour (not farewell as Maiden won't ever do such thing).
Very interesting to follow and see how things unfold, because there's still some time left but not for eternal..
Im pretty ok with the fact that based on the Harris talk, we should be getting atleast one studio-album from them.
But honestly I hope that we will get as much as possible, albums and tours, Maiden has been my life for so long time and I want to cherish all those memories and still get new ones.

Do you think guys, that there is any chance Maiden to do an anniversary for some album (like Judas Priest do for British Steel back in 2009) - maybe Number of the Beast or Piece of Mind, to play it in full, like they did with AMOLAD ! They tried to this for NOTB in 2007 leg , but only 4 songs were played. I don't know, but so many bands plays do a special tour to their best albums , or to say their classic albums, playing them in full - but I think if Maiden had this opportunity - this was in 2007 !

Maybe for Maiden is more easy to play greatest hits now, not a album in full (I still think that so many fans would love to see some of this albums played in full, especially + Somewhere in Time album - that would be magical  everyone want a SIT tour, like the one in '86 ) , but I guess this LOTB tour would be the last for classics !!!

I don't. I mean, I'd still go see it 10 times, but I'd really rather anything else.

Why man, this tour was so good and every fan, and Steve sorry for that Maiden don't release a video and live album from Somewhere On Tour 1986/1987 ! - including me.
Not many songs except for WY and HCW are part of the setlsit nowadays - and that's sad, because is one of Maiden best albums :)

The tour was great, but I get why some people are not that fond of the album. And, historicaly-wise, it would be so strange to tour around that them some 6 years after doing Seventh Son again.

I wouldn't base the whole tour around SIT, but I would love to hear something else than WY and HCW (which was also apparently put to bed, because roadies aren't too fond of people on stage) live. But there are other songs on this album that could get an outing on LOTB tour. Lets look through the album realisticly, what they could perform and what they could not.

Caught Somewhere In Time
As much as I would love to see this song live, I believe it would be just too much for the 66 year old Nicko and 60 year old Bruce. It's also one of the songs that would suffer from being played at more reasonable tempo (as Aces High did in 2013/2014) and just wouldn't be a good fit with the current state of the band.

Wasted Years
Will return sooner or later.

Sea Of Madness
Probably won't be performed again.

Heaven Can Wait
Roadies aren't too excited about this one, because of people on stage and the problems that surround getting them there. It was apparently vetoed out by roadies in 2016, so the band replaced it with Wasted Years. Still could return sometime.

The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
Probably won't be performed again.

Stranger In A Stranger Land
Nicko loves this song. So Nicko could veto for this one next year as he did for TOAC in 2016, and hopefully the band listens.

Deja Vu
Probably won't ever be performed.

Aleexander The Great
Almost every hardcore IM fan's wet dream. Probably won't happen though.

That leaves 3 songs WY, HCW and SIASL with realistic chances of being performed. I'm fine with Wasted Years as I love the song, but I really hope that SIASL returns someday (and I actually think it has a greater possibility of being performed than any other song from SIT except WY). I don't particulary care about HCW as it is only a good song with repetative chorus and sounds better on the album than on any of the live performances, because it has some kind of mystic vibe that is almost impossible to recreate live.

Come on, Nicko. Pursue them to play SIASL until they eventually give in.
(That said, if they play SIASL and the heavily rumoured FOI, FTGGOG and ROTAM, that would make another classics tour worthwile.)

Deja-Vu would be great live(the only thing that I don't like about the song is that it hadn't a solo on it, but the melody of the song is superb), and it was rumored for the Book of Souls 2016 leg of the tour by a Chinese site - i don't remember the site, but I think it might have a 30% chance to be played for the first time ever on the LOTB tour !

It wasn't. The Chinese goverment page had an accurate setlist with one exception: Wicker Man being in place of Powerslave (and songs not being in order). The Deja-Vu rumour was that they rehearsed it for 2008 SBIT tour. It was in IM sub-reddit and it was triggered by someone who apparently knew Rod (Lol.). That guy also stated Rod told him, that if IM ever drops a song mid-tour, it would never be performed again, which was proven bollocks last year when Wrathchild returned after being dropped in 2014.

I never knew that they rehearsed Deja-Vu for the SBIT tour ! And I think on that setlist it also has these songs - DOD,ED,SOTC,TCDR, if I remember correctly, + Wicker Man - so maybe some of these songs are likely to return !!!

They didn't rehearse Deja-Vu for SBIT. This guy on Reddit was a fraud. He also stated that they rehearsed CSIT for SBIT tour and it didn't work with 3 guitars (Lol again).

That TBOS setlist wasn't Chinese. It was made by a guy who was bored and wanted to troll. The Chinese set was a goverment document, with only two flaws, I pointed out earlier.

OK then, I misunderstood it , thanks mate :)

I don't know for you guys, but I really want to hear Prowler on the LOTB - it seems that this song is forgotten somehow and I think Steve love it ! Also, I think Brave New World the song and The Wicker Man, but more likely for BNW has a really good chance to return to the setlist - in someway that song represent their reunion :) I'm pretty sure that it has 90% to return to the set ! - Prowler has maybe 40-50% to return from the really ''old'' songs - it's definitely a classic song !!!
