Judas Priest

That's like saying dog shit is better than human shit. At the end of the day, they're both shit.
Never understood the hate for Nostradamus. Yeah, it’s not Painkiller Mk. II. It’s not trying to be. It’s a story set to music, and stories don’t constantly go for the jugular.

It clicked for me, but I’m obviously in the minority (again)...

For what it is, I don’t find Nostradamus to be very good. I wasn’t expecting anything other than a concept album with a compelling story and music to go with it. Didn’t really turn out that way imo.

I was expecting Loch Ness style guff like "ooh ooh Nostradamus what do you see in your crystal ball, let's party tonight" and it's far better than that.

I never said I hated Nostradamus. It is just that I tend to find it boring. My relation towards this album is more of polite indifference than "hate". ;)

As opposed to, say, Jugulator? :D

Still more interesting than Nostradamus, in my opinion. ;)

I’ve never tried to compare it to Painkiller. Fact is: it’s monotonous and subpar compared to Priest’s entire catalogue.

Looking at them as whole albums and not just the highlights, I’d take Nostradamus over British Steel, Point Of Entry, and Defenders Of The Faith any day of the week. I don’t feel compelled to skip anything on Nostradamus, but my finger gets itchy when all the filler tracks come up on the other three.

That’s true, they share similar weaknesses although I slightly prefer The Astonishing. At least that sort of thing is in their wheelhouse so the musical themes were fleshed our better imo.

The Astonishing has some awesome songs like 'Ravenskill', 'Moment of Betrayal', and ' A Life Left Behind'. Nostradamus has none.
