However, the comments about chronology actually imply Foro that while you feel everyone else is prejudiced against the 90's (even though a large amount of us discovered all their music in one go, so time of release meant nothing at all) you yourself are more prejudiced against things that came/come later because they have less chance of being 'original'.
Correct. Well, not just the chance, I judge after I heard it. ;)
Whereas you feel other people are biased against it, from my perspective others are indifferent to it due to discovering later and in bulk, whereas the fact you experienced this era differently to other people gives you a bias TOWARDS it.
I wish to answer more here, but I lack time. :/

I hoped I could explain that. I did experience this era different from everybody else, also from Ariana.*

I didn't mean to be unfair. I was explaining how I experienced it, but I also mentioned that taste is individual and some of it, inexplicable.

* of course I do not mean to say that everybody who experienced it like me, still has to like Mother Russia or the nineties more than others. But all these factors could have provided more room for more appreciation.

Well, I am going to lean out the window a bit and say that everybody has their personal experiences with the music. Therefore, I don't feel comfortable about generalising the reasons for someone's like or dislike of certain songs or albums, even if many people made similar experiences. And that's why I also feel easy about other people not liking what I like. My favourite albums get slagged all the time, but I can't help but shrug it off. I could go around and tell everybody about why The X Factor and Virtual XI are among Maiden's best albums (the former being the best), but if somebody asks me about why I love them so much, much of what I have to say relates to my personal experience with them. Same with No More Lies, a song you have almost angrily voiced your discontent with. I can see your criticism with it, but at the same time, I don't share it. It's one of my absolute favourite songs. It's crazy, isn't it?

You're right, there's some bitterness inside me. I do mind a bit that the majority is indifferent towards the nineties. I thought that the band was treated a bit unfair at the time and I took that too seriously. I am not planning to make a regular habit out of it, but as you know, it can pop up at times.

About your love for No More Lies, I think I can see this coming back in what you like in (songs by) other bands. You often go for intensity, and lyrics that you care for. Although songs you like can sometimes have a "simple" surface, the meaning and impact can go deep. There's no way I should condemn your (or anyone else's) love for certain (aspects of) songs. When I angrily voice discontent I (should) intend to direct that to the song, and not on the people who like it.

You see, that's one of the things - if you say that, I believe you, but it sometimes comes across the way that your dislike for a song means that nobody else should like it. I know you don't mean it that way, but you do seem quite bitter about these things sometimes. I think that we have different things we look for in music. So we can like or dislike the same songs for the same or for different reasons.

Certainly. But there's also a certain urge to analyze. I see patterns. People might not like that or disagree with it, but I indeed wouldn't look too much in it. It's good to realize how it comes across, but find it difficult to change it completely.

Foro, mate, nobody wants to change you or what you do. At least I don't. Just consider this a little feedback that you can use whichever way you want. :)

I'm pretty sure people were calling this game a farce before it even started. It didn't have a chance :p

Just to clarify, when I said I found the instrumental part of Mother Russia weak, I was referring to the solo section. The other instrumental parts (intro, pre-solo) are amazing. Like Forostar, I too enjoy the "Soviet" vibe of the music.

I was okay with anything that happened (and that includes the eliminations of Alexander the Great and To Tame a Land, which were ridiculous) until Starblind's recent elimination. That's too far, definitely a farce.
