Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

I'm still a bit intrigued about the Shepherd's Bush Empire references. Was it only because Bruce's video after the listening party was recorded there? Would they even bother to record that video there if the venue didn't have some significance? Maybe (or probably) it's nothing, but it still left me wondering.

But at Belshazzar’s feast the feasting happened first, then came the writing on the wall.
In that case, perhaps a livestream or something on the 15th and then an album announcement on the 19th to coincide with the album covers on Instagram?

The crazy thing about TBOS to me is that it reached double album length with Steve Harris taking a less active role than on the previous two albums and without any epics by Adrian Smith. On TFF we got 5 epics, 2 of which had Smith’s involvement, and all 5 having Harris’ involvement (including When the Wild Wind Blows which was all Harris). On TBOS, we have 5 songs that exceed the 7 minute mark, although imo only 3 really have that epic feel: The Book of Souls, Empire of the Clouds, and The Red and the Black (and even TRATB feels more like an extended instrumental jam at times). Overall, I find that TBOS is actually a little heavier on the short rockers than previous albums, despite containing two songs that eclipse Rime.

So with all that being said, I’m curious what Maiden’s trajectory will be on this album. Adrian indicated after TFF that he may have been interested in writing shorter songs on the next album, it also seemed that he was a little disappointed with the production choices on TFF and may be less interested in experimenting musically as a result of that. But I would love to get one more proggy epic from him, he does them best IMO.

I think we can assume an acoustic type of epic from Janick, those seem to continue growing in length.

I would say an epic from Dave is unusual but not impossible (see The Man Who Would Be King).

Bruce clearly sees Maiden as more and more of a creative vehicle, I would love to see at least one other Dickinson penned tune on the album, but any of his influence on the material is a positive (IESF and Speed of Light is perhaps the best 1 -2 punch of the reunion era).

Steve is the wild card here. I expect he will go back to having a heavy hand in all the songs (probably writing credits on every track) and we can probably assume a Harris epic that will at least exceed the length of TRATB (they progressively get longer each album). I think speculation that he may want to “outdo” Bruce with Empire of the Clouds is in line with the friendly competition element between the two. It’s also probably a rite of passage for a hardcore prog fan like Steve to write a sidelong epic.

So if Steve goes back to writing more and everybody’s involvement stays more or less the same, I expect an album that exceeds TFF in length, which will put it in double album territory, and possibly exceeding TBOS as well.
This is really well thought out, I love it. My personal hunch is that this will be a Bruce-driven record with less Steve than we’ve historically seen. I think Bruce will be writing some epics and some rockers (with H) and Steve will contribute some short(er!) songs as well, with the one odd song out being an epic that outdoes “Empire”. But really, anything could happen at this stage. Can’t wait to see what it’s all building up to.

Which one would you choose:
A. Album about the world and the enviroment.
B. Album about ancient Babylon.

I'll take B.

Because the original conversation was about their popularity fading, others were of the opinion that their retro cool appeal was higher than ever. It might be in some places (esp the US), I think their popularity has declined in the UK.
Fair enough, although popularity is a difficult thing to grasp with any kind of precision during the pandemic. Let's see... the Final Frontier UK arena tour was huge (11x arena dates in 2011). The Book of Souls UK arena tour was even bigger (x13 arena dates in 2017). They went for x7 arena dates on Legacy in 2018, but studio album tours are a better measure I think.

Maiden (like other acts) could actually benefit from pent-up pandemic demand for live music. If things are running at least somewhat normally in 2022-23 they could stage another massive UK arena tour. We'll see I guess/

Oh well, wherever,
Wherever you are
Iron Maiden's gonna get you
No matter how far

2 days to the announcement!
We don't even know what TIME OF THE DAY the announcement will be! For some of us operating far from home (my home being London), this could mean an all-night wait due to time zones.... They go for 0900 UK time, which is 2100 the previous day EST.... or maybe 1200 UK time which moves the clock to midnight EST ... ARHGH!

Yep, we don't know anything about the timeline unless some counter or countdown comes visible to the website.
I guess it would just nice if they would put the info/announcement on their website and pages without any actual warning.
Just thinking this..Out of nowhere, oh behold..the info about new album. WO(T)W! I know that once they put it there, all the places, forums like this will explode and dozens and dozens of posts emerge.

The album will be announced on Thursday, I think. It would be pointless creating all this hype and anticipation leading to the 15th and then giving us nothing big, on that day.

Full album details on the 15th
New single release on the 19th

Pretty sure it's going to be like that

You can't be serious.

Then what it is?
A beer called "Iron Maiden n.17'?
This is definitely the most clever campaign ever and the biggest suspense Maiden has given us. I've so missed the feeling this has given me.
@Fabio Maiden nevermind the few people on the forums, they are pessimists and so don't give too much attention here and besides we know that the albums soon coming out.
So this is gonna be huge, they surely wouldn't build thing like this for anything else than major news such as the new album #17.
Hang in there people, just couple days and then we will know for sure.

Of course, Phantom
Some pessimists are just funny as hell, though.

All this time (when 2019 Paris detective work was being dismissed by some pessimists), although Im 100% sure and confident that this is about the new album, I've thought of 0,000000000000001% chance of it (the announcement) being some other thing and so would be so disappointed on thursday. It almost makes me smile and laught a bit if that would eventually be the case.
But it wont be that. 2 days only to go..
