Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

This is Alexander live all over again. You guys have a way you would like something to be, and go on to interpret everything and anything in that way. And the deeper you go into that rabbit hole, the more convinced you become that it will happen, completely oblivious to the fact that everything you're seeing is wishful thinking and fabrications from thin air. And then, when it doesn't happen, you will blame the band for teasing you, despite the fact that they did no such thing.

It's not exactly like Alexander.
We know Maiden will make a new album soner or later, but they won't play Alexander.

The reason I got my hopes is because there was a rumour back in january that Maiden would start working on a new album this month, and then Kevin Shirley pops up near the studio where they wrote and recorded TBOS.

And just to clarify, I'm not convinced they are working on new material. But it's easy to understand why there is much talk about it.

Still interesting to see his reply, possibly the band will spend the first 2-3 weeks writing then recording will follow, it is pure speculation but people close to the band have said they are definitely going in, it's a case of wait and see although I'm enjoying seeing what people are coming up with

Someone should inform him that “most people” agree that he’s in Paris recording with Maiden, so he must be mistaken.

It is the cart and horses thing, I'm just going on pure speculation but apparently whoever said it is pretty trustworthy, again we won't know until we know

To be fair, he's out of his studio for five months and he only mentioned one weekend in Germany. So maybe he just isn't in Paris with Maiden yet....

Plus, if he didn't respond to those comments, it'd seem even more suspicious. And the comment thread on that pic basically goes like this:

"Hey Kevin, I hope you're recording a new Midnight Oil album!"

"Nope, they're touring all year."

"Hey Kevin, any truth to the rumor that you're working with Maiden right now?"

"That's a rumor. I'm going to be in some other European cities that are extremely easy to get to by train this weekend."

I don't think Kevin's denial means much. If Maiden are recording a new album they want to keep things quiet so Kevin will obviously dismiss any rumours. Going to Germany for a weekend doesn't really take him away from Paris for long either, and I'm sure everyone involved likes to have weekends off. Until we know for certain the next Iron Maiden album should be referred to as Shroedinger's Album: it is both being recorded and not being recorded at the same time. It will stay that way until we know something for sure.

You know, Steve Harris did say that they would be getting together early this year, no one in the band has any other public commitments right now, and their producer is in the vicinity. Perhaps it's you that should stop?

AFAIK, Maiden only works Monday-Friday in a studio, so KS weekend trip to Germany makes perfect sense.
