Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

Shadows Of The Valley is my favorite song from TBOS album - I feel sad for all of you that you still do not felt the greatness of this ''mystic'' (perfect for the theme of the album) song, with one of the best song titles ! ::)

I agree that it fits the album very well when it comes to lyrics and overall atmosphere. It also has great melodies and it's very enjoyable song as it is. However, I always felt that it sounds just a tad bit too "recycled" to be among the very best on that album or (more or less) recent material in general. Good song though and as I said, I really enjoy it. I think that after the "ooh-ooh..." part, which is kinda the climax in the song, it falls a bit flat. Nothing wrong with another chorus repeat there, but it doesn't really grow anymore after the mentioned woo-oh-part.

Janick comes up with some great ideas time after another, but I guess two great songs he's involved with is quite a perfect amount per album. Not that I'd mind if there's more, but I'm quite happy with what we've got so far and I don't personally crave his involvement to outweight others that much.

The acoustic intros are his thing, I suppose, but at least they usually work very well. It really fits Dance of Death and TBOS and The Legacy Works very well too. The Talisman could've been developed a bit more though.

I dont think his fast riff intro (not sure what to call it) songs are bad too, Lord of the flies, Out of the Silent Planet, Gates of Tomorrow and Shadows of the Valley are all cool little songs in my book.

Just a thought: Part of the inspiration for the name "Iron Maiden" came from "The Man In The Iron Mask". How cool would it be to see Eddie take the place of the man from the novel?

What I wouldn't give to see an all-literary album.

Hey Captain Ahab, call me Ishmael
That whale's an asshole, so how do you feel?
But you're not gonna win
You better go back again

Don't you think I'm a sailor?
Don't you think I could sail it?
Don't you think I could sail all night?

(Repeat 75 billion times)
I was thinking of writing some lyrics for these songs, but guess I don't have to: the excellent writing partnership of Jer / Harris is already on it!

Judging by the proposed writing credits, it would also include 75 billion distinct riffs and about 35 guitar solos.

Don't even joke about this. TWITW is one of my all time favourites.

*Janick patented acoustic intro*

The world has held great Heroes,
As history-books have showed;
But never a name to go down to fame
Compared with that of Toad...

TWITW is one of my all time favourites.
It’s one of mine, too, actually. I figured if they did a song based on it, it would be good with Janick’s intros and stuff.

Besides, the whole post was less a joke and more of “if I was Iron Maiden and I was trying to follow-up TBOS with an entirely literary-based album, how would I do it?” I dunno, I kinda liked the final result...

And Quiet Riot have already designed the cover ;)

That Toil and Trouble title leads me to a song about someone taking a s**t and remaining without toilet paper :)

As a kid I also made up albums for bands I liked. I remember coming up with a dozen, incl. one for Iron Maiden I named "Enthrall Them All" or "Enthrall The World". Last one coulda been the tour. On the cover Eddie was a piper and the people his rats.
Lots of bogus song titles as well and run time too. At that time the average length was in the 40-50 mins. so no comparison there.

The Maiden Rockwave gig is already 20 min delayed...

Edit: I am so confused that I posted in the wrong topic.
