News Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

I hope after this tour they bring the old backdrops and stage or maybe a mix like FPT.
Tbh I really like the new AI videos they’ve used in their RFYL concert. While it’s not even close to what they did on Legacy (the theatrics and everything), I like how the videos actually tell the story of what they’re playing.

This is probably the best quality 86 recording I've seen thus far.

Thanks for sharing. Good sound. It can be seen now - there is a backdrop (probably used for almost all songs) that looks like a spaceship from the outside, which makes the whole stage even more complete and special, especially with the lights. Cool stuff.

Thanks for sharing. Very nice and honest answers from Nicko, especially about Blaze.

This is curious: ''Oh, funny you say that, we had lunch! Simon said, ‘God, your right foot, you play fast!’ I said, ‘Well, look, if you’re having a problem with it, use another pedal.’ He went, ‘I’ve got one on the kit, but I don’t really want to use it.’ I said, ‘Look, Simon, if you feel that you can’t do it with one, then do it with two – for crying out, no-one’s going to complain! They’re already moaning about your little baby kit anyway’ (laughs). So the two drummers of Iron Maiden had a good laugh. Simon’s a great player. He’s played with Steve for 14 years now, and he was the right choice to have as my replacement and I'm proud of the fact that he hasn’t tried to emulate my drum set in visual terms, he's keeping his own identity.''

Simon not wanting to use another pedal so he can try to play like Nicko speaks of his dedication. I would like to hear some use of it. He's doing more than a fine job, playing his own way and what's comfortable for the band now. At first it was really odd because we know Nicko's drum parts by heart, but Simon brings a needed power and energy. He has the skills, stamina, solidness, ofc Nicko is unique, the band didn't want a copy. I also enjoy some of his drumming videos with his old projects.

It's not close at all, but with the screens they do cooler and more interesting things. I like what they do with them for the most part, something different and they should have tried it, but videos rarely works for me (telling the story is fitting for Rime, but for others?). Some of the footage for Rime is cool (the ships, raining during the solos), but Aces for example (I like when Eddie shows up) is not really a fave stuff of mine from all, although it's spot on. They could use a few cool ideas for each song, so they pick one. I would make 2/3 main moving (a bit) arts for each song. For example - Powerslave (pyramid inside and what they use), NOTB (the video for the intro and single cover), POTO (what they use and Eddie during the instrumental section), Trooper (could be a new moving pose, like ME '2013 art), SSOASS (something different during the calm part), etc. Such stuff. They could do that for the next tour (plus more props). To use the Future Past approach again? I doubt it (it was unique), and the new stage is easier for everyone.
