New interview with Steve.

''It seems like next year Maiden are not going to do, if anything… anything at all. So I might go out and do some festivals next year with British Lion.
When I get back with the lads, the Maiden lads that is, I just want to make sure that that is what everyone wants – to take the year off. It seems like it is but I just wanted to double check that everyone is up for that. I mean, I wasn’t particularly, so we’ll see if there’s any others that… I just think at our age you’ve got to keep going. I’m scared to stop, if I’m honest. But we’ll see. It looks like we’re going to take the year off and if that’s the case, I don’t want to sit around twiddling my thumbs. We probably should have just taken a break in retrospect. Everyone’s wise in retrospect. I think now everyone’s got other things they can do.
''

About the documentary: ''It’s a documentary where they came to us with an idea that they wanted to do and it changed a little bit from the original idea. I think they should really have put up that it’s a documentary about Iron Maiden, not by Iron Maiden.''

So Steve says that Maiden won't be doing anything next year (ofc he can't say they'll record a new album, or), thinking about doing more solo shows like Bruce and Adrian (when time for writing?), and it seems he didn't want the break, but rather made a compromise (which means they don't want more lineup changes, which is good)... Not exactly enthusiastic answers about the future.
While no hints of a new album (obviously), getting the feeling that some of the members may just wanna step away. They’re old, they’re tired & they may not be at 100% health. It only makes sense to cool off a bit. With that said, these comments from Arry are beginning to give off the impression that this could possible be their last tour.

Man, this latest interview with Steve, where he opposes taking a year off with Maiden, is very telling. It reveals a lot of existential tension on his side. I can totally imagine being in his position - aware of age, of time passing, of all those harsher truths about life - while still feeling physically capable and seeing the band thriving.

At the same time, there’s that creeping awareness that things won’t last forever. Even when everything is going well, you can feel the approaching end of a certain chapter. And then there’s the reality that he can’t fully control what the other band members want. At this point, it seems quite undeniable that some of them - like Dave - may be thinking about stepping back, while Steve might feel that this way of life could begin slipping away sooner rather than later.

It’s like life itself becomes more fragile, more fleeting. One moment you’re speeding down a wide highway under the sun, everything open and endless - and the next, you find yourself on a narrowing road, turning into a small path through fields and wasteland… until suddenly you hit a wall that wasn’t there before, or reach the edge of a cliff. Figuratively speaking.

Nicko has already faced serious limitations - his highway has narrowed - and Steve wants to stay on that road for as long as physically possible. Bruce seems similar. Maybe Adrian too.

It’s all pretty heavy - depressing, even.

And maybe the only way they can push back against it is by doing what they love: playing live. Making a new album could also be part of that fight, but it’s a different kind of challenge - more mental, more demanding. You’re trying to live up to your younger self and still deliver something meaningful. And that’s never easy.

There’s also a completely different interpretation, one that has nothing to do with emotions or age, and nothing is revealed about that:
The announcement of the 2027 tour hiatus was always just a marketing ploy to sell more tickets.
Now they need to start laying the groundwork for backtracking.
Here in the forum, some people always mention how far in advance a tour has to be organized, about 1.5 years.
Then it’s naive to think they’d just sit down in the summer and decide on a Maiden tour for 2027.
