So, I opened the article and the first thing I read was the headline: “Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood: ‘Respect your fans above everything else.’”

I understand what he means, but I'm immediately at odds with it and feel compelled to argue. Dance of Death's album artwork and production are clearly some special form of respect for the fans. Very sophisticated, and even slightly tongue-in-cheek. Not to mention the production choices on The X Factor and Virtual XI. Those immediately send a clear message: these boys care about us. Truly, madly and deeply. It's so flattering. Yay!

Rod: Poor sod. Those are creative choices and artistic vision. “Respect” doesn't cover those areas.
 
I cant complain about what they have done since reunion. They did a great job. Setlist tours maybe a few more albums. But they are now in a level no one could imagine in 90s

Btw some people have complained of them using the same stage since 2003? They have changed now for this tour i really hope they bring the old backdrops and the big eddie. They can use the screens on the amps some artwark are really cool but i think the 80s stage and some of the 00s stage were great. The big eddies are better than the eddie of this tour wich is for me really disapointing not have a big eddie on the 50 aniversary. And that kind of stage is their trademark. Thats my only complain.

If he's really in the process of trying to convince the others right now, then they can't possibly be recording at the beginning of next year.
That would have to be all set up already, with the studio booked and so on.

You all don't understand. Nicko's spilling the beans. That's a very deliberate tactic to hide the truth that they're not going to record a new album. Full stop as far as studio life is concerned.

The next level of deceptive PR - in fact, the highest level - will be when they release a new fake album, perhaps even a double album, to silence the fans and sort of please them while, once again, cementing and truly concealing the cold, hard fact that they're not going to record or release any new music ever again.

That's how they operate these days. You have to understand their methods.

This is not new info. The article is citing a Blabbermouth piece that has a bunch of quotes pulled from a podcast appearance Nicko did back in February.

But he speaks about bruce saying that he wants to record as he said in that interview to steve.

Looking at the interview it was a conversation he had with Bruce last year:

Nicko:

"Yes, I spoke with Bruce. We met at a convention in California in December. I asked him, 'Do you want to make another album?' He said he did, although he didn't know if anyone else would. And if they do, I'd be happy to jump in and record a couple of tracks. I don't think I'd do the whole album because of my limitations."

I think Bruce having spoke about it openly in interviews that things are already in motion. They know this kind of chat can build hype well ahead of anything actually happening.
 
I would interpret it this way: The others are already convinced.
Why approach Nicko to ask if he wants to be on an album when the other (Steve in particular) do not want a new album anyway?
If Steve is not interested in making another album, it would not matter what Nicko wants.

So that conversation was before the metal hammer interview were bruce spoke about recording and album early next year and steve saying thay maybe

If Harris really is going to stick to his guns on this - because he's found someone he's very comfortable working with, etc. - my overall positive attitude towards Maiden may soon start to change... WTH.

Live Chapters was for the most part pretty good, so it's a throw of the dice whether the live album will turn out crap, or ok.

Edit: and to be fair, the vinyl version of Nights of the Dead was significantly better in the sense that the guitars weren't headache-inducing like on the CD.
