Historical Figures 20 Questions

7. Is he famous for his accomplishments as a public servant (includes soldiers, politicians, etc.)?

7. Yes.  However, this man is known to history for something above and beyond his stature as a public servant.

Wasted, I'm stumped.  Could be the other Mormon, Brigham Young, but I'd be stunned if he were in a militia.  I also was thinking William Jennings Bryan, but he was more of a politician than a religious figure and his most famous moment (the Scopes trial) came in the 20th century, so that can't be right, either.  I'll let you get the next one, as you got us going down the religion path.

Well... we have a hundred year span for the birth date- I think I'm gonna halve that one to get a better idea what time frame we are dealing with.  I'm wondering whether it's gonna be pre or post civil war era...  I'm thinking that there were some pre-civil war era religious types that would have run a militia, maybe in the north-east... dunno so much about after that era.  Brigham Young isn't a bad thought-- just off the wall enough for LC to like.

13.  Was this person born on/after jan 1, 1850.

So, an American male, born between 1850 and 1900, not in the military but had something to do with a militia, and a religious figure... hmmm....

And it was a territorial militia-- I'm assuming that means it was for a territory, and not a state... (that's not a question)

Anyone have any ideas?  CFH, W.J. Bryan actually fits pretty well; I don't know if he is considered a 'religious figure'--tho he championed many 'christian' causes; and I don't know what connection he would have had to a territorial militia.
