I still don't get number 2 ("not this one"). As for number 3, I think you need to change more than one letter to go from "El Dorado" to "banker". However, I am pretty tired these days.
I guess it's because the song is about a false promise of El Dorado.

Not sure about clues 1 and 2 but if only 1 letter is changed it can become "The Klansman", which doesn't sound so good. The lyrics also aren't as repetitive as some other songs.
