Opeth referendum?

Mosh, was it you who was thinking about hosting the next Maiden Survivor?
If you do, I have a request: can you introduce the songs in reverse order of how they finished in Maiden Head to Head?
I think it would make for a nice change-up in the flow of the game.
 
I can think about it. I'm not sure how I would divide the songs.
 
Very cool idea. Gates of Tomorrow might actually stick around for multiple rounds. And it'll be nice to not have to face the brutal AMOLAD rounds.
 
Yeah it's an interesting idea. The only thing is that I think it will favour those songs near the top more, as they have to get through less rounds to reach the top 10.

This. I'd rather have the Survivor with songs in opposite order, from Wild Wind to Prowler (from TFF to debut).

It does, but they are going to be around at the end anyway. This way you aren't giving a pass to the strong songs in weak albums, and you aren't handicapping songs based on the order they were released. You would eliminate the concept of songs graduating to the finals. It would be a more drastic shakeup in the way the game plays out than what NP is proposing. That idea isn't bad either, but it still leaves us picking betwwen the same groups of songs. I'd like to see us given different groups of choices. Alphabetical order, or song length are other options.
 
I also agree that this would be an interesting idea. I think the last time you guys had one, I was still pretty new and it was in the middle to end of it by then so really couldn't hop in. I'd like to be part of the next one.
 
I agree with thoughts of changing album by album format. mckindog's idea seems reasonable. Every solution will have their flaws, but I think that one would be the one with the least of them.

Bump. I'd do it head-to-head style, but 90 is not a good number to work with. Any ideas?
 
Take out the winners, that leaves you with 81 songs. Divide them in groups of 9 - one song from each band and include the winners at a later stage. I've never run a game like this, so I have no idea if it can actually work, I'm just thinking.

Except there were two winners for the Bruce survivor.
 
There are two winners in Testament too. I may just choose the song I prefer as no. 1 in both cases :D
