We see threads like this start all the time, so I just got an idea: let's put all the "firsts" in one place, here!

Could be interesting, because it will help us get to know each other better ... there are a few new members here who I don't know much about yet.

My Maiden firsts:

First song heard and first single-song video seen:
Run To The Hills, early 1990s at a friend's house (video: Women in Uniform, 2006 off of 'Visions of the Beast' DVD)

First full album heard:
Brave New World (2003)

First album bought:
Hard to say I bought at least three on the same day.  Fear of the Dark was definitely one of them.  Virtual XI was hard to get as no store carried it, so I hard to order it on-line.

First album bought on release day:
Dance of Death, 2003

First full-length video seen:
Visions of the Beast (2006)

First video purchased:
Visions of the Beast (2006)

First release bought multiple times:
Just like SMX, I bought POM twice.  However, I bought the CD first and then I bought the cassette, as my car stereo still had a tape deck.

First Maiden shirt:
The Trooper

EDIT: First concert: Aug. 2003 in Toronto

I didn't know it was Maiden, but when I was around 11 or 12, Flight Of Icarus came on the radio. I loved it! Then, a couple years later, my uncle gave me a copy of Somewhere In Time. 1 listen and the rest is history!

GREAT thread - I like this one a lot. Especially for nostalgia. I'm not as old as some of the forum members, but I've definitely got a few years on some of you   :D

My Maiden firsts:

First song heard: Run to the Hills, sometime around 1985 on MTV. Thought that was the balls. Then saw Aces High and thought, this is the best band EVER.

First full album heard: Powerslave, also 1985ish

First studio album bought: Powerslave

First album (studio or live) bought: Powerslave, on cassette - I never got Maiden on vinyl although I was still buying it at that time. Much easier to hide from the parents on cassette  :shred:

First album bought on release day: No Prayer for the Dying

First full-length video seen: Maiden England
First video purchased: Maiden England (on VHS)

First vinyl: NA
First cassette: Powerslave
First CD: Somewhere in Time
First release bought multiple times: [EDIT] originally had NA but bought everything again for the most part on iTunes, including Powerslave, NOTB, NPFTD... everything I had on cassette

First Maiden concert:
Soundwave, BRisbane, Feb 26, 2011, Final Frontier (yes, it's taken me a while to see them!!!!!).

First Maiden shirt:
The Trooper
First non-shirt memorabilia:
7th son patch
First non-clothing memorabilia:
NA (yet)
First Maiden song learned:
Can't play a lick but sing and probably would have to say Hallowed be Thy Name

First song heard : Aces High, 1996 or 1997
First full album heard : Live After Death, around 1997.
First studio album bought : Somewhere In Time, remastered CD, sometime in 1999. I "bought" copied tapes of other albums before, like VXI in 1998, but that doesn't count as "purchase"
First album bought on release day : The Final Frontier
First full-length video seen : Live After Death on copied VHS, around 1997
First video purchased : The First Ten Years on VHS, around 1997
First vinyl : Live After Death, around 2001
First cassette : I never bought an original IM cassette. I do believe that i had original NPFTD tape in my possession at a certain time
First release bought multiple times : Live After Death, i have vinyl and DVD. DVD bought few weeks after release
First concert : SBIT tour, 10.08.2008, Poljud Stadium, Split
First maiden shirt : I had several non-official ones. The first and only official was FOTD hoodie, with FOTD cover on the back and just the Iron Maiden logo at front side, bought it around 1999, lost it around 2002.
First non-shirt memorabilia : Killers badge, also around 1999
First non-clothing memorabilia : I have a wooden stratocaster (15 cm in height), with Iron Maiden logo on it. Gift from my brother, few years ago.
First Maiden song learned : I don't remember, because i've already played guitar for several years before i started listening to Maiden, so i immediately caught few riffs and chords. I'd say that first song i was able to play from start to finish without solos was Futureal.

I should maybe mention, although Aces High was the first Maiden song I heard, The Wicker Man (particularly the chorus) was the first thing that clicked for me with Iron Maiden. I listened to it a lot for the next few days before getting into their other songs.

First song heard: Running Free

First full-length video seen: Live at Rainbow
First video purchased: Live at Rainbow
First vinyl: Iron Maiden
First cassette: Powerslave (it was all vinyl before that album)
First CD: Seventh Son (after that it was all CD)
First release bought multiple times: Seventh Son CD and Cassette
First Maiden concert: Rainbow Theatre 1980
First Maiden shirt: Can't remember.
First non-shirt memorabilia: I had a Killers back patch (I think I still have it somewhere) that was never used.
First non-clothing memorabilia: Funnily enough, I don't recall ever purchasing non-clothing memorabilia.
Oh, I did rip a poster advertising the Rainbow gig from the outside of the Rainbow theatre just before the gig. Folded it up (it was a massive poster) and put it in my inside pocket and kept it for years - again, I think I still have it somewhere. I must dig that out.

Can you remember the first time you heard Maiden and what song/album it was... rock on...

My first was Purgatory and I was hooked from that moment 25 odd years ago, and as I liked the Eddie
on the front of the album so much, I had no choice but to steal it from my older sister's boyfriend, and I
still have that same album in my vast collection today. Thanks for the good memories Iron Maiden...
