Dream Theater

I like it because DT's had a history of having the first album singles being the weaker songs of the album. If this tradition continues, ADTOE is gonna be a great album. :D

I've issued a report on your redundancy to the Redundant Department of Redundancy.

When do you think they'll get around to processing it? Also, how long until they deal with it?

Of course I mean the first analysis of the report, since the Redundant Department of Redundancy will naturally process the report at least twice.

I meant what you said on the last page about rotating setlists when new members come in :)

Right, but my point is that the non-rotation had nothing to do with new members. Had KM been there for the Awake tour, or DS for SFAM, there's no reason to think those sets would have rotated more than they did.

Or maybe I'm just not getting what you're getting at.

Sadness, I was expecting an epic album closer. That's cool though, hopefully there is something to rival Tuscany there. I already decided that OTBOA was better than most of Black Clouds. So the rest of the album has to be good. I predict the weak song will be Far From Heaven though.

I'm not judging, but how do you predict that?  Based on the name or the length?  Or something else?

The length. For Dream Theater, I never really like their short songs. (Exception for the early days) I think even the band themselves said once that they aren't good at writing short songs. Especially 3 minutes. The short songs on DT albums these days always end up being my least favorites. Last album was Wither, then Forsaken, and then The Answer Lies Within.

EDIT: I listened to Octavarium again, and the shortest song on that album was I Walk Beside You which was actually a pretty good song.

Prediction : Breaking All Illusions will be the best song on the album.

If the worst songs of the album do not drop so much from On the Backs of Angels' quality, if there will be better songs than On the Backs of Angels, and if there will be a rival to Tuscany or Octavarium, then that album will be fantastic.

Hint : I find On the Backs of Angels fabulous.

That is pretty much exactly how I feel. Also I bet JM is higher in the mix this time.

I read on Blabbermouth a couple of weeks ago that they might be touring the US with labelmates Trivium in September. If that were to happen you'd better hope Dream Theater are on before Trivium so that you can leave early. However, September is soon so I don't see anyone leaving it so late to announce a tour.

Trivium is alright. I could really care less about opening acts though. I hope not September because that is too soon for me to be able to go. In fact I kind of hope for summer of next year. That's just all around easier.

Setlist from High Voltage festival:

Under a Glass Moon
These Walls
Forsaken
Endless Sacrifice
Drum Solo  (Mike Mangini)
The Ytse Jam
Peruvian Skies
The Great Debate
On the Backs of Angels
Caught In A Web
Through My Words
Fatal Tragedy
The Count of Tuscany

Encore:
Learning To Live

Apart from the drum solo and 'The Count of Tuscany' I think that's an excellent setlist.

I hope they change it up.
Yup same as it was when the tour started.

They played Metropolis Pt.1 as the encore at two or three venues.

Can't wait for next Thursday, going to Hungary to see them! The last European date! :yey:

Looks like this album's animal is sheep:  :edmetal:
