There's also ACOS, which is its own thing but I lump it with the FII stuff.

I actually lump it in with I&W, since it was written around that time. I guess it lives in both worlds, though. Part I&W, part FII.

I listened to Once In a LIVEtime the other day in the car and I forgot how bad JLB sounded on that. Obviously not really his fault and it had to be even harder doing a 3 hour show, but it's still pretty bad. As far as the music goes it's a pretty good disc anyway. There's some cool reworkings of songs, particularly this version of Take Away My Pain

I also listened to this the other day and LaBrie really does not sound good. The music is great, but the amount of instrumental solos is ridiculous. I love DT, but I don't need a keyboard solo track, a drum solo track, and a guitar solo track - even if they are godly.

Also, interesting fact: that saxophone part in Take Away My Pain was recorded in the studio and did not actually take place at the concert. Sorta weird.

Yea that's a good point. I'm talking about the ACOS EP too though, including the live stuff. That version also sounds more like FII, but if you listen to the older demos/performances it almost sounds like it could've been on the debut at times.

100% agreed on the solo tracks. I understand the need for them in a performance that long, but why did they need to put that on the album??

FII demos were cool. A lot of the Kevin Shirley decisions were for the better IMO, I much prefer the way Take Away My Pain, Burning My Soul, and Hollow Years in particular turned out on the final album. Some songs had parts that I wish carried over but I didn't feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities with the final album. I would rearrange the final tracklist though to make something like this:

1: Raise the Knife
2: Peruvian Skies
3: Hollow Years
4: Hell's Kitchen
5: Lines In the Sand
6: Take Away My Pain
7: Anna Lee
8: Trial of Tears

68 minutes. A much more tolerable length I think. The only flaw is that it might be too much on the mellow side, but I think it would've been cool for DT to release an album more focused on their soft melodic side and FII does best when it's doing that. The worst songs are by far the heavier ones.

"Under a Glass Moon"

"Erotomania"
"The Mirror"
"Scarred"
"Space-Dyed Vest"

"Peruvian Skies"
"Hell's Kitchen" (it doesn't stand a chance when considered as a single track anyway)
"Anna Lee"
"Raise the Knife"

It is hard to get rid of some of these but what remains is really brilliant.

*Has aneurysm induced by anger*
Those two songs were in my top ten.

Anyways... I'm voting for
Take The Time
Under A Glass Moon
Erotomania
Mirror
Peruvian Skies
Hollow Years
Trial of Tears

Glass, Erotomania, Scarred, Lines, Change.

Metropolis, Part 2 is coming in the next round most likely, so start re-listening :)

Going into Armageddon mode: voting for everything except the songs I want promoted + tactical vote for SDV.

Same here, for the most part. I still can't bring myself to vote for any of the I&W songs, however.

That means Erotomania, Scarred, Peruvian, and Hollow are the sacrifices. Voting for the latter two was by no means easy.
