Dragonforce

Sorry to revive an old topic... but does anyone have the new album?

When I first listened to it, I didn't really like it compared to the old material... but the more i've listened, the more i've loved and now i'm addicted. I recommend it, if not for the music, just for the 'rockumentary' video on it.

Its basically an enhanced section featuring amateur video from their tours. Highlights include Sam trying to score with Japanese chicks and a hilarious part where Sam sneaks into the Lacuna Coil press conference and asks the vocalist (I forget her name) if "When you're on stage, headbanging and sticking your arse out, do you imagine your mum f***ing you with a strap on?"

Bloody hilarious it is! [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I had the same impressions as you at the start but the album definitely grew on me. The best song IMO is "Body Breakdown" with "Cry for Eternity" being equally brilliant. The pieces are all very similar so it takes a while to digest the music.

I have not yet watched the rockumentary but I applied the "desktop theme" which is a pile of sh** in my opinion... horrible [!--emo&:puke:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/pukeface.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'pukeface.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Maybe you should listen to more than 3 minutes of music before judging a band or album. I'm assuming the song was "Through the Fire and the Flames" because this is free on DragonForce's website. That hooked me straight away so I suppose if you think this isn't catchy, the rest of the album may be a drag, but don't be so close minded [!--emo&:p--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I've only heard Through the Fire and Flames. I thought it was good, but a bit too much like the SF stuff. VotD is my fave album, and Where Dragons Rule my fave song (along with Fields of Despair off SF), even if WDR does remind me so much of HBTN. Is the new album worth getting? I quite like DragonForce, but I doubt I could listen to all their stuff together, like my complete Maiden, Priest and Nightwish binges I do from time to time [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/rolleyes.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'rolleyes.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

For an answer to that "binge" question, just look at my last.fm charts. All the DragonForce has been listened to in the last 7 days or something [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/rolleyes.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'rolleyes.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Me too... I bought the album the day it came back... and thought there were no really strong tracks. Now its all i've been listening to for the past week. I really cant decide which song I like best... they're all great... apart from maybe Storming the Burning Fields.

As another question, is it just me or does 'Operation Ground and Pound' sound like a name for a porn movie? [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/blink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'blink.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

When I first head of the song name I laughed...

Why didn't they just call it 'Plan to tackle to the floor and rape'?

I guess [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Dragonforce is amazing. My second favorite band only next to Iron Maiden. They really don't sound like any other Power Metal band I've heard, minus the lyrics, and I've listened to a bunch of the big ones(Stratovarius, Kamelot, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Rhapsody, Hammerfall, etc).

My fav songs are Revolution Deathsquad, Fury of the Storm, and My Spirit Will Go On. I've been listening to the tracks from their new album, and all of them are good so far exept Body Breakdown, which is the first song I disliked from this band.

Body Breakdown is actually one of my favourite DF songs. It's down to individual taste but you must remember that DragonForce is definitely a grower type band, especially their new album. Give the tracks four or five listens before judging [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /]

Yeah, I plan to give it another listen to see if it sounds any better. It just sounded so weak/soft in comparison to the other stuff. Maybe I didn't listen hard enough?

EDIT: OK, Body Breakdown is not bad at all. I guess I like it better when I hear it in good quality instead of the crappy quality I heard it in on myspace.com.

Body Breakdown is my favourite song off Inhuman Rampage, followed by Trail Of Broken Hearts and Through The Fire And The Flames. I'm not the biggest fan of anything after Valley Of The Damned, but both Sonic and Inhuman have their great songs, Fields Of Despair and My Spirit Will Go On off Sonic..
I saw them for the second time last week and have to say that I wasn't that impressed. It seemed too "put on" while they were kicking each other off the podium for soloing, where the time before it seemed real. I also waited outside for ages after to meet them but it was freezing outside and I just said feck it after a half an hour.

Body Breakdown is pretty good, the worst Dragonforce song so far is 'Storming The Burning Fields'. Its crap.

Their best material is definitely from Valley of the Damned...

I'm inclined to agree about the latest DF shows not being that good... i've seen them 5 times now and their latest show wasn't as enjoyable... probably because the venue was a lot bigger, I like smaller venues and i'm used to seeing them in places like Milton Keynes Woughton Centre...

I also agree on the 'takes a few listens' comment. When I first heard the new album I really didn't like it, then after a few more listens it became pretty addictive. Its their worst album though, not to say that its bad.

I like DF, and my favorite song has to be Fury Of The Storm, but i still prefer Stratovarius.

There was a DF concert on near my area not too long ago but I decided not to go because I didn't want to pay good money to be in an arena surrounded by 15 year old Chimaira fans.[img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/sleep.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"-_-\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sleep.gif\" /] I'm not saying that DF have sold out or anything like that but I just don't like being near any wannabe "metal" yuppies at all.

That was my problem exactly! I was at the Dublin gig there two weeks ago and I was totally surrounded by all these little false ones. Never in my life was I that pissed off! As I was trying to enjoy the gig, I had all these children knocking into my back trying to "mosh" (moshing to them is running accross an empty circle and saying to their luttle buddies "WOW! That was soooo raaadd mann!!!!!!") ::

Ah, the bitter elitism is strong in us. [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /] I wonder whether will they ruin the up and coming Maiden concert at The Point... Jeez, don't I sound like Mav? [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/happy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"^_^\" border=\"0\" alt=\"happy.gif\" /] Anyway, I haven't got round to acquiring the new DF album yet but I do have high hopes for it.
