That doesn't really matter in this case though, does it? Unless you're telling religious communities to change their doctrine. Some might, but others will not, and this really isn't the time for a theological discussion or religiously motivated unrest, and that's kind of my point.

"Religious communities" don't make decisions, individuals do. It would be problematic if New York City chooses to cremate the people without asking the relatives first for the reason you've stated, but it's not impossible for a Jew or a Muslim to grant consent to it if given an explanation of the circumstances.

The reason I brought up the Christianity angle was that it was an example how religious people come to make concessions in certain circumstances and how it may gradually lead to an update in the religious interpretation among clergymen and theologists. So there's no need for "time for theological discussion", that comes after the fact.

The New York Times published an interesting piece on how different parts of the US have reacted to the pandemic. Areas in blue are not necessarily Democrat voting counties (although this would help in November) - they are areas where travel distances have decreased (by up to 60%) compared with "normal". White areas are (probably very white too) areas where travel distances haven't changed much and in red areas travel distances have increased compared to normal. I suspect the red counties are Republican voting too. It's interesting that the spine of the country and the (non-Florida) south-east have responded less drastically than the major population centres.

But it also reflects population density of the US, somewhat.

If you spend your days in a large village area, your movement patterns won't change much. You can travel thousand miles, if there's no people on the way, no harm done.

Exactly .. some of those spots in the middle of the country, you would have to go 2 miles to get within 6 feet of someone else

Miles and miles of miles and miles, as the saying goes. The drive from Winnipeg to Calgary is much the same. Grain elevators and occasionally a small town.

If you know Plitvice Lakes, it's in a geographical region called Lika, which has 40.000 people with 9 people per km2 density. Due to inflated bureaucracy machine in Croatia, the region has about 20 municipalities or towns. The covid emergency laws forbid travel without permit between lowest subdivisions of the state. So for them, no moving out of village municipality with population 500, while there's basically more bears than people in the surrounding areas, two states of Luxembourg worth.

Wimbledon was insured against pandemics and got a £141 million payout!

I bet Joey DeMaio is laughing his head off at Hellfest right now. This is terrible PR for the insurance company though and there will probably be a lawsuit.

Just 1,510 new cases and 74 deaths in the US? This can't possibly be right. PLEASE say it is though!
