Coronavirus

Masks weren't encouraged in the UK until very recently. In fact they were actively discouraged by the authorities for a while, mostly I think because they were scared that healthcare and care work staff would have even greater trouble than they did getting hold of PPE because people would hoard masks. It's a bit like the quarantining rule for people coming into the country. That only started in June some time, when the damage was mostly likely done in February.

You get hassle for wearing masks in this area, and fewer people are doing any sort of distancing. It's just chance that the number of cases at present seems to be pretty low around here, so nothing too bad has happened....yet. It's very difficult to tell what the prevalence of Covid is in the community. There are few deaths in this region now, but I suspect a lot of people don't have any truck with getting tests unless they actually need medical help.

Polish tourists voting today at their consulate. Most tourists look like this - largely no-one is abiding to the mask recommendations.

Now for some people at the beach in Sweet Home Alabama (where the skies are so blue) explaining why they're comfortable going to crowded areas and not wearing masks. Basically if God want to kill them then they're OK with that.

It’s interesting how people on the right fully support the rights of private businesses to inconvenience people they personally disapprove of, but they completely lose their shit when they’re the ones being inconvenienced.

If you don’t like Costco’s policy, you have the freedom to shop somewhere else. If all the major retailers are requiring face masks, and you find that personally offensive, and you aren’t legally required to wear face masks indoors in public, then you have the freedom to open your own retail store that doesn’t have a face mask policy and try to compete with the ones who do, however bad of an idea that may be.

That's just a stupid argument. How could Cried open his own beach? The logistics and funds required to do that are too onerous. Plus, where there's large amounts of sand, and people not adhering to walking-without-rhythm rules, there will surely be worm sign. And who wants to attract Wizzy to your new beach?!

Of course, I could have a "No Wizards" rule...

He's being irresponsible about the whole thing, though. May even say he's being an American about this whole thing. Sad!

Cried's beach, sounds interesting! I would visit that. But maybe there's "no lamias" rule too. And because I couldn't use bold in this message, no matter how hard I tried, I definitely won't get in.
