All four seconds.
Nirvana and Steppenwolf are fine but I am glad I could vote against them
I am one of a few who likes the Henley, but the opponent is better.
Steely Dan is just so precise.

My votes:

I'm not a fan of either Patti Smith or "Because the Night", and the Aerosmith song is a top seed for good reason. Dream On
Southern bar fight vs. Seattle homeless guy. This is a tough one for me, I don't want to vote against either. I'll take Linda Lou at The Jug over a pillow made of concrete, I guess. Gimme Three Steps
This Elton song is overrated. Clocks
For anyone who has gotten tired of Petty, relax: this is the last one. Breakdown

Dream On because it's awesome, but I remember falling in love with the hair metal version of Because the Night as a young buck.
It was the first version I heard.

Me too, but I'll pick the other one

This Elton song is overrated. Clocks

Maybe, but I just can't pick a Coldplay song over an Elton song.

For anyone who has gotten tired of Petty, relax: this is the last one. Breakdown

Saved the best for last. The live version is awesome

I should clarify: I didn't just vote for Clocks by default because I think Elton's song is bad. The Elton song is good, but overrated. The Coldplay song is a better song that I voted for because I like it more. Many other Elton John songs could get my vote here, just not Bennie.

Tom Petty is starting to become the Joe Satriani of this game for me. :p

Two songs I don't really care for by artists that can do better... "Dream On" is much better than most or all later Aerosmith ballads, but I'll go for "Because the Night".
"Gimme Three Steps" is probably the best Skynyrd song (though I'll admit I haven't given the matter a lot of consideration).
This Coldplay song is actually pretty cool. Seems they do have something in them, if not necessarily it.
Not a fan of this Gabriel song (where's my "Intruder"?), so Petty it is.

My votes:

It's a hard rock day, except when it's a prog day.
Van Halen, Metallica, Def Leppard and of course Rush.

I barely believe it myself, but I am indeed voting against Satisfaction. It drew a personal favorite of mine as opponent though.
"The Boxer" is another song that I could have voted for, against a weaker opponent.
