News Burning Ambition Documentary

I like it. Why can't he just like it too? Why does everything have to be about age? I hate this ageism.
We don't tell someone who is blonde and dyes their hair red (or something like that) that they should finally learn to accept what they have.

Steve didn't do the premiere for Flight 666 either. He does not like standing in the limelight. Never did. Same goes for Janick.
This is probably the right answer. But still, Steve gave a very different story about the bands involvement in the production when he spoke on Trunk Nation than what Bruce said in a recent interview.

Steve: We didn't have that control that we would normally have if we were doing it ourselves, of course. [...] Yeah, we cooperated with it and we did interviews for it and all that stuff — we did what they wanted us to do — but if we'd have done it, I think we'd have done it in a slightly different way, and I'll say no more. But I still think the end result is… Well, I'll say no more because it preempts whatever.

Bruce: I’ll be honest with you: the problem I had with the film wasn’t the content, but the editing, especially in the first third. But that wasn’t Malcolm’s fault. So I took notes and gave my two cents. Funnily enough, my notes matched almost one hundred percent with Steve’s, which he had made independently of me. And even more astonishing was that Ben Smallwood who was the creative director of the entire project, had very similar criticisms as well. He said, “I’m relieved that you guys feel the same way I do, because now I can go to the production team and demand that changes be made.

They give two completely different stories and it's pretty clear Steve isn't all that happy with it.

This is better. And it’s not filmed vertically. Whole red carpet photo session, 26 minutes.

Interviewer asks Blaze a question and he gives a 60 second answer, you’d think he would have learnt how to use the press by now. It’s not a podcast, they’re after ten or fifteen second soundbytes for that sort of thing. Giving a huge rambling answer is just going to ensure you’re left out of the edit.

Holy hell, what was Nick’s wife wearing?

Adrian looked sharp, good on him for making some effort. Def Leppard always look sharp, maybe he should have joined after all!

Bruce needs a girdle.

Oh and that lone piece of popcorn on the red carpet fell out of Eddie’s mouth when he was shaking his head. Mystery solved.

Blaze doing the kung fu poses in front of Eddie was hilarious.

Yeah, Steve’s absence from the premiere is very telling.
I love how Blaze kind of stole the spotlight from Bruce. “Let him have a little bit of fun.”

It's cool to see such an event and it's wonderful to see them all together, especially for Blaze. His toying with Eddie was fun (loved it), Bruce enjoyed it, all of them. It seems Steve didn't like such events (and the documentary, Bruce, Adrian and Nicko didn't say that). Maybe Janick is the same. Since Dennis was there, Simon could have been there too. Adrian with brown hair was a bit odd the first time you see it. Historical photo, they all should have been there.

I loved how they hugged Blaze and Bruce told him to stand in the center with Eddie. :)

Some of the songs they played during the event: Iron Maiden, Paschendale, Rime, Trooper, Different World, Clairvoyant, Phantom.
Thanks, I didn't see them. But having to rehearse more doesn't make sense as a reason for being absent.
Yeah. Maybe they'll change a couple of songs for this year's leg of the tour (they have enough time though), but I think Steve and probably Janick just don't like such events. I thought the same about Dave (in 2009 for the movie, Bruce, Nicko, Adrian and Janick were there).

Someone to share some photos?

I saw the movie twice yesterday, first at a press screening and then at the Istanbul premiere in Turkey. I really liked it. There isn’t a lot of new material for fans like us, of course, but the story is told in a very sincere way. And Javier Bardem absolutely steals the show. His contribution is fantastic, bringing both depth and a touch of humor to the documentary.

A few things feel missing, though, most notably Martin Birch. I don’t even recall him being mentioned. But that’s okay, it’s more about the band’s overall journey.

Still, seeing this story on the big screen for their 50th anniversary felt truly special, and I’m really happy I got to experience it like this.

This pick (posted by Spaldy) btw...Dave's wife still looks a lot like him!
It used to be this saying that Dave and Tamar couldn't be more twin souls than they are, considering that they actually look like each other :p

There also is a pic of Dave with their daughter, relatively recent I think (say about the last decade), she's basically him but blonde (so basically him back in the 80s).

Dylan Gers was there, representing Janick.
Janick does not like limelight, so sends his kid instead who will be playing his first 'big' gigs this year. Win-win situation.
