Philip Näslund has a collaboration with Gibson.

The tour ends in Los Angeles. Could that mean they will then enter a studio and record new songs there?

They have decided to end the tour there so they can have a jam with Roy Z... :P

This may not be the final date of the tour. But it's possible to record/write more after it and especially since Maiden probably won't record early next year, but it depends. Bruce said he's not in a hurry with the next album, but if he wants to tour next year too, what will it be, 3rd leg or a greatest hits?
I guess he'll be working on the demos. He also mentioned he's waiting for the right time and inspiration for his solo albums or something like that, but the songs are more or less written and ready in some form. So. They had time this year as too. Idk what to expect from the guitar approach now (the vocal ideas are the stars), but I hope the album to contain more uptempo (and heavier) songs... is that too much...

Instagram live with Bruce from yesterday by Z2.

It was advertised as a Q&A, but for 45 min, they asked him only like two. Not cool. We can see that the fans' questions were good and interesting. A missed opportunity. Some things to note:

  • he noted that ''Shadow Of The Gods'' is the most popular song from the album.
  • ''Resurrection Men'' was written in 2014 and it's his favorite song to play live from the new album because it has everything he loves about his solo career - it's heavy and eccentric.
  • BTP remix will be released this summer.
  • he called the next album a sequel to TMP. Curious to know if this was just a way of saying the next album.
  • he was in the studio today with his solo band to see when to record the new album. Nothing more was revealed, even the direction of it.

In other news: a book containing the first 4 comics has been announced, I guess sales are good. More books and one final big one will follow.

Thanks for the summary @Kalata !
My pleasure.
It seems Bruce will indeed record with his solo band, which is fine by me. No more missing parts and stuff, please. Also probably a different producer, right? It's curious to see what he (or they) can come up with 2 guitars in the studio. More melodic interludes/harmonies, should be interesting. That's always a missing feature, since TCW days. I expect the style to be like TMP, a varied album. I doubt he would use the same themes and make comics again.

I guess they will record the album in parts over the next year or two, although we don't know his solo plans for next year, but since he is looking for a studio to record now, the songs (co-written with Roy) are more or less finished, I assume.

Also, I'm curios to hear the added parts (more solos, different riffs?) and sounds for BTP album. It's already an interesting and varied album. Heavier and full sound should be good.

This is probably a dumb question, but is the speculation that Bruce on any forthcoming material would also write with his solo band? Like if Roy Z is truly not involved anymore, he'll need someone to assist with musical ideas.

Do we know the songwriting prowress of the folks in his band?

The plan is writing with the current band. We haven't heard what they are capable of writing, but I have faith that we'll get some nice stuff from that line up.

Phil Naslund is a producer apparently.
Here's the answer then, although I still wonder if Bruce will completely stop working with Roy.

Both guitarists should be able to write nice riffs and melodies, but I think for future albums he will write alone and with Roy, but he will record with the band. Not because of the remixes, Bruce values Roy as a songwriter, which is important. Yeah, he will record with them (which is a big new step in his solo career; Roy might play too, who knows), but he has the material written already and it is not a little. I think nowadays Bruce needs some assist with solos (duh) and riffs (at least), so not much.

Isn't the plan recording with the band for now?

Btw, Bruce shared a backstage video from Greece from last year with more live sound:

Given all that happened I believe there is exactly a 0% likelihood of Roy being involved in any way with the next album. Bruce clearly values his new band and has stressed time and again how important it is to him that they feel like a unit. I'd bet that he will write and record with the band.

Writing with someone else and recording with someone else is a can of worms that neither of the involved parties would be content with.

You might be right. I've been waiting for some kind of statement from Bruce as to Roy's involvement on his next album--an album Bruce has talked about a few times. Maybe him not addressing Roy publicly regarding the next album is his statement that he's all-in on the touring band now, and the Roy collab is over.

EDIT: edited for clarity.

Does drunkenly rant on Facebook about Satan and being backstabbed count as a "statement"? Because that might be the best we can get from Roy on that matter, if his previous behavior is any indication :D

I could've been clearer with my first sentence, I suppose. I meant a statement from Bruce, not Roy. I'll fix it for clarity.

I don't disagree (especially the last sentence), the situation should be clear now after some comments and Roy would definitely want to play his co-written songs in the studio (new, nope), but since the work for the remixes is ongoing I guess both sides can work that way if they want. Payments, ofc. Roy enjoys writing the most (he was still the ''main'' producer of TMP), while Bruce's solo band may not be songwriters, who knows (thinking more about riffs and structures, not solos). My point was that he has enough demos to not write new songs for at least 2 more albums. All in all, I doubt it after the announcement of the live band, even though Roy introduced Chris to Bruce during the recordings in 2022.

There's another thing, if Bruce doesn't write some new songs with them (he'll use the old demos for sure), the feel might be like TMP, ideas from different sessions and years. But at least the playing will be in unit.

Good point. And Bruce writing 4 songs on his own for TMP.
