You know, I've always wondered...what's the best Eddie? Lots of people have very strong opinions on the subject. Similarly, what's the worst Eddie?
My favourite Eddie is the Aces High cover, followed by Powerslave cover - man, that scene is majestic. But lots of people prefer many other covers as well.
We can have a discussion regarding this, but I encourage everyone to take 5 minutes and fill out this survey. Maybe after a month or so, I can post the Maidenfans.com Eddies order.
I am a really big fan of the sanctuary Eddie where he's holding the dagger or the knife and he's kind of crouched I love that honey Man live after death Eddie is incredible and so was Somewhere in Time Eddie Number of the Beast Eddie rules going with Sanctuary Eddie
Ah, speaking of T-shirts - I seem to have a knockoff shirt with the alt BYDTTS art, marked as RTTH for some reason. Curiously, I seem to recall seeing it being used as Blaze-era promo art, but there's nothing on the net to suggest I wasn't hallucinating . . .
Even though this one comes in higher than many, it also didn't get any 10 votes, much like Holy Smoke. Someone liked it enough to give it a 9, though. Obviously a very hastily drawn Eddie that relies upon the various covers told at this point. The short hair is really odd to me, and the teeth appear, well, almost too white. The robot eye is off-centre, whereas the spark-filled eyes isn't, giving Eddie almost a cross-eyed look. This isn't a very pretty Eddie, and I'm surprised it got this high, especially when much better Eddies (like the Virtual XI Eddie) went low. It's enough to make me think people voted for the songs rather than the Eddie.

51. Iron Maiden - remaster (Riggs) Overall: 5.07/10
This one is a tribute to the original, of course, and what I find really interesting is that Riggs avoided the temptation to "update" the look of the old Eddie to match the style that would be developed beginning with Killers and ending with the advent of the more monster-like Eddie that began around No Prayer For the Dying. This Eddie really looks like a fuckin' zombie. I think if you go to an Iron Maiden neophyte and put this and the original side-by-side they'd prefer this one, but the fact that it wasn't evolved and more re-imagined makes it look like a copy of the cover we all know. You can see by the votes that this is considered very middle of the pack by Maidenfans.
I don't understand why this did as well as it did. It's a very piss-poor drawing, the only advantage of it is that we get an early view of where Eddie will evolve over the next couple covers, until his Piece of Mind-era lobotomy. Look at that left leg, that is not well drawn, and the right one is so oddly disjointed. Obvious that Riggs just pounded this out.
