BEST BAND EVER: Results!

Yeah, let’s maybe give Roy Khan a fighting chance here cause that song doesn’t do him justice:

I think Layne is super unique, but I also think Jerry Cantrell’s minor and bizarre harmonies are responsible for a lot of the praise.

Layne Staley 100%

Phil Mogg is decent enough. When I saw UFO live last year he surprised me quite a bit. He's no match for Layne though. Like Lampwick, I'll be voting for him deep into the game.

@Night Prowler Do we have seeding in this game? In other words, is it possible for, say, Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio to land in the same group in the first round? If we do, what is it based on?

Not really a fan of Manowar, but Eric Adams is a good vocalist, if a bit repetitive in the way he sings. Layne Staley has no competition here, and this video has his best performance IMO. Phil Mogg is also good but out of his depth in this group. And I have to admit I was never really into Roy Khan... Didn't like his tone at all, or his stage antics.

Eliminated after Round 66:
Eric Adams
Phil Mogg
Roy Khan

Promoted after Round 66:
Layne Staley

Jeff Buckley (solo)

Messiah Marcolin (CANDLEMASS)

Phil Collins (solo, GENESIS)

Stu Block (ICED EARTH, INTO ETERNITY)

I don’t really like any of these singers. Going for the Candlemass guy mostly because he’s probably the most technically skilled and I just don’t want any of the others to win.

Buckley - odd timbre, but not the worst singer in the world.
Messiah - really good inside the doom genre.
Collins - yes, he's a legend, but does he deserve it?
Stu - the thing about Stu in IE is that Jon didn't let him find his voice until Incorruptible. He's finally sounding great.

This is tough for me. Buckley goes out and quick. Messiah is really good in his range, but that's a damning statement, so I gotta toss him too.

And, I gotta be honest...I don't love Phil Collins. I never have. He's got a very good voice, yes. But does he have a great voice? I don't know.
Here's the thing about Stu...he sounds great for him on Incorruptible, but it took awhile to get there, didn't it? And his great, is it great? Fuck, I really don't know.

I'll vote for Stu, just because I expect Collins to win.

Voted for Stu because I think he’d be the best fit in the eventual “band” we’re assembling here. This was a very hard group to pick a fave from, otherwise.
