BEST BAND EVER: Results!

Didn't Petrucci lose against Dave Mustaine or something crazy like that? I might be wrong, as you said the game is old. :)
Petrucci finished 3rd. I was disappointed because he faced off against Lifeson in the semifinal, and I was really hoping that those two would end up in the Final.

Joe Satriani lost to Dave Mustaine though, so that's probably the really crazy thing you were remembering.

Ah yes, Satch was the one. I know Iommi is more well-known and generally lovable but Petrucci, man, I would take his big hard c...I mean, he’s a great inspiration for me.

I never heard a single Jeff Buckley song before... good stuff, good singing. Might check him out a bit more. I suspect he was nominated because of Dead Musician Bias® though.

Messiah is definitely the best singer here with the most original voice.

Phil Collins has a good voice but is far from the best singer.

And Stu Block is good, but stagnated in Iced Earth, neglected all the harsh vocals he used to do. Sad!

Harsh vocals, by definition, all suck, therefore, good.

Going back to front.
Don't Stop Believin' is a classic for a reason, and Steve Perry is grand on it. Strong first entry.

But yeah, Pat Benatar, she can just sing.

Not sure how Danzig ended up in this competition with his gravely voice, which is fine within his range, but certainly not iconic.

David Byrne - wasn't aware this was forum.slampoetryfans.com on that intro. He's fine.

I pick Pat.

I may have nominated him. I used to be a huge Misfits fan and his voice was iconic within that genre. I don't care for his post-Misfits music (Mother is a great song though) but yeah, he was one of those punk rock guys who could actually sing.

David Byrne is my favorite musician here by a long distance, but he's not a great singer per se.

Voting for Pat Benatar.

No on David Byrne.

Danzig is fat Punk-Metal Elvis without a neck and sounds like it.

Pat Benatar has the best songs.

Steve Perry is easily the most talented singer. I am not a Journey fan.

This is a group of heavy hitters. Byrne is a better musician/artist/lyricist than a singer. He wins this round for being the most interesting. Pat Benatar and Steve Perry are powerhouses. Not sure who’s better but I lean Benatar today.

Danzig is here too.

David Byrne's vocals fit his music, but I wouldn't call him a great vocalist.

I'll admit that this song is the only song with Danzig that I know of (never listened to Danzig or Misfits), but he's good on it.

So it comes down to Pat Benatar vs. Steve Perry... I'm not that familiar with either... but I'm way more impressed with Perry.
